I was just wondering, if you were to make your own religion, what would it take, like physically, do you need to sign anything, have papers to prove, or what?

And lets just keep this about the topic at hand, please..

I'm not sure. I suppose you'd just need a bunch of people believing in it, right? Isn't that what a lot of religions preach? Loads of faith?
Honestly, you could worship the Nine from TES games and I'd still find it okay. It's just as logical as Christianity, Voodoo, or what have you.

Hail Sithis.

Thats it really to be honest, Jedi is a recognised religion as there's enough people that claim it as their religion same with the church of the flying spaghetti monster. So if enough people belive in the nine divines or the daedra then that would be a religion. I think you need something sighned by an official at some point though.

So it doesn't matter if you believe a man can get his mum pregnant with himself and be his own son & dad, or if you believe in a flying pasta & meatball monster or if you believe in midichlorians, Talos & Sithis, Xenu or whatever anyone can create a religion.

I think you need a set number of members, a name for your organization, sign a few papers and pay a small court fee to be recognized as an official religion. Anything not officially recognized as a religion is a cult. Im not completely sure but I think thats basically the way it is. I hope that made sense, I had to pull an all-nighter for workzzz.

Cult sounds way cooler than religion.

If Scientology can be an accepted religion then we can worship Marshmallow gods without a second thought...

In fairness the creator of Scientology was a science fiction writer, he probably made it out of a joke and it just got out of control....

Yeah but how out of control does something have to get before they go 'Hey listen guys, you know this religion... I made it all up... sorry'.

To be fair, I'd worship the heck out of a marshmallow god.

In Pastafarianism eating pasta and meatballs is considered honouring the flying spaghetti monster.
Now that's something I could totally be ok with.

I won't ask what I have to wear...

By the way, I've tried looking up how to make your own religion and there doesn't seem to be anything "official" to it at all. So long as it fits the definition of a religion as opposed to sect or cult then it is automatically one, it seems.

I'll create a religion for all people on the web, we will worship a giant spider and all the memes as our holy saints.
