I bought Skyrim as well, it was so cheap. If I ever get time to play them....
This sort of games almost requires you to spend a lot of time in order to enjoy them? I have the impression that RPGs are somewhat complicated and I guess there is much that must be learned.

That's one of the things that separates Bethesda's RPGs from all the others, because they're so streamlined and accessible (mainly after Fallout 3). Skyrim is very easy to get into compared to say Morrowind. You just jump right in.

They are easy to jump into but don't expect you just play for 30mins, you will start playing and then find you have lost the whole day to the game. You don't need to spend a lot of time in the game to enjoy it, you will want to spend a lot of time in the world however as its vast.

Its systems are a little more stripped back and basic, I would say its just as easy to hop in and out of but Fable has more emphasis on its story and could lose whats going on in parts if you were to leave a large gap between play sessions. Elder Scrolls is more side quest based and you fill your quest log pretty quickly but the logs are detailed enough to give you an idea of what you are doing and why in between play sessions. If you compared the quest amounts in both series I can imagine Elder Scrolls sheer quest amount would dwarf Fables and Fable is much more linear in the way you travel the world. Elder Scrolls you are pretty much free to wander where you like after you leave the first sections.
