Just came back around to this.
I dont remember people loading up on toilet paper and sanitizer products in the movies.
We didn't see the days while Rick Grimes was out. The first wars were fought in the toilet paper aisles. ;)

Happy to announce I got confirmation just a few minutes ago that I'll be returning to work June 1st. Mixed feelings, but mostly good. =]^_^
Also glad to see stocks in stores returning to normal. Don't have to throw bricks at Karens to get stuff I need anymore. Got that going for me, which is nice.

The Original State of Decay called it.

Can start getting back to as normal of a routine as possible in the current situation and better to know you have a job to go back to at least.

Ours had been but I went out to get a few things last night and shelves were decimated again. >_<

I just got this mod manager named vortex I've been downloading gigs of mods and it almost just works! Gaming seems to be the answer to this whole delightful mess.

So far I think I have managed around 4 hours in the entire of lockdown, hoping some things start to reopen soon so I can get some more time to myself to get some gaming in.

I'm straight up not having a good time bro. I've returned to work barely fitting in my uniform. I look like a sock stuffed with ground beef. And I want to do stuff at the end of my shift but I get so exhausted that I'm just sleeping when I get home. When I wake up it's aches and pains.

I mean, I'm glad I returned to work. Another month of inactivity might have made my current work physically impossible for me to do. But damn I'm sore.

And there are rumors we'll be closing down again in a few weeks. So. Mixed feelings on that.

Ive been hearing similar things from many people and how they are struggling to get back into the work routine and that they have put weight on since being out of work.

Is the rumoured future shut down CoronaVirus related or to do with other factors?

We never actually shut down due to corona virus. We shut down because our customers shut down and we didn't have any contracts/orders to produce so we were furloughed for lack of demand, but only after we stockpiled products most likely to sell when our customers open again.

Here's the thing, our product is perishable. So two months later our stockpile is trash and our company has us replacing it before letting us to again. Managers man, but if it made sense you wouldn't find it in the workplace.

It may be repugnant to say this even so, the protesters are threatening to burn us to the ground if we return. I want to share this with you. I spent over 6,000 dollars this year on nothing more than Doritos and Mountain Dew.

Late to the party. Can't believe I was quarantined for a month before thinking there may be a covid thread floating around here. Welp, I'm alive. I am 'essential' but working from home- we're currently in the process of retooling the workplace for more space, etc.

Since all of this, I've bought a real big boy desk and chair. Now that I don't have to leave the house at all, I'm trying to get a kitten.

EDIT: oh and learned how to make bread.

There's been an outbreak at my work. They closed us down for the day and had a cleaning crew disinfect everything. We're all scheduled to return after the weekend but there's a legit fear that so many of us have been infected that even if they combine what's left of the three shifts into just one, they won't have enough manpower to do the work.

Hi fellow human. What do you do that you work from home?

Also congrats on the big boy desk. It really is a big step into considering yourself an adult. It was my first purchase right after stainless steel trash cans and Pyrex food storage.

Like Groundhog Day at the moment...

Kids are still off school for another 3-4 months as we refuse to send them back and put their health at risk before the schools are ready. My wife is going out of her mind with boredom and running out of ways to keep them entertained already. Im missing gaming immensely too and backlog gets bigger every week with free game offers...

No summer vacation for kids?

No summer vacation for kids?

I believe the Summer Holidays are due to start around July 17th. The school had actually called us to say they had lots of spaces left if we wanted to send them back as very few kids had actually returned in the first wave (less than 50%).

Their headteacher also did a 45min YouTube video explaining the steps the school had taken to keep the kids & staff safe & broke down the government document step by step. It reassured us enough that we did send them back (4 days a week but only there for 3 hours a day) and they have been back around a week now. However they will soon be off again for 6 weeks but we wanted them to get some form of structure back to their lives again & my wife needed the break too.

So I’m curious how the situation compares for each of us wherever we are at the moment?

Scotland is taking a more slow response than our southern neighbours in terms of opening things up which I think has - so far - been the right course of action when you look at the numbers but I’m no expert. Masks are mandatory in shops and places of business. Most people wear them just fine but you have a few fruit loops complaining they can’t breathe. I usually just say “pretty sure the people on ventilators wish they could breathe too.”

My town is pretty small so not actually heard of any cases here, everyone seems to be wearing masks in the shops besides the odd handful of people.

It's been quiet up here too. Though I just read that pubs are being closed down in Aberdeen again, which is about 3 hours away from where I am. I really do think pubs should have been one of the last things to open.

You live in a really isolated town don't you? Or have you moved? I'm curious how quiet quiet towns got. I saw a few vids of a herd of sheep taking over villages in Wales lol.

Cant imagine how still it was at peak quarantine in most Northern Scotland.

Biggest outbreak near me is in Stone which is 25-30min drive, quote in the article sums it up '"Everywhere other than local Wetherspoons had closed'.

It's been more or less how you'd expect. The worst things got was back when people were stockpiling stuff. The selfishness and greed was kinda unreal.
