Think Like a Developer

Well, I know there's a thread giving vague ideas on what should be in DLC's etc. but that's what it is, vague ideas. If you were a designer and pitching an idea of yours what idea would you pitch?

Here's some of my major ideas for DLC:

Fable II Return of Heroes DLC:

New areas: Northern Wastes, Samarkland Village

Quest Lines:

1. [Supposedly around 10 years after the end of main quest line] You receive a letter from Hammer saying that she believed that she learned what she needed from the monks and wished to return, but without power of cullis gate, the journey would be too perilous alone even for her as some enemies in the area only respond to fire magic. A large amount of fire is necessary to melt a path through the ice to bring her back, with a couple monks. Upon arriving they abruptly attempt to convert or rebuild the temple of light to spread their ideas and up the areas defense. Completing a quest to help convert the people maxes out the economy of Oakfield and drives out the remaining Hobbes and beetles. Afterward, the new temple can do restoration missions that drive out crime in areas, bringing back peace and allowing people to live there. All areas except Wraithmarsh and the Guild can be completely restored this way. (Brings about the ruins of a few castles being rebuilt in Bower Lake and Brightwood).

2. An oddly friendly Banshee appears in Bloodstone. It holds something and doesn't attack. It comes as a letter asking not only for Reaver to return, but for him to rebuild "their ancient temple". You tell the Banshee that Reaver is no longer on the continent and she opens a Cullis Gate near the docks. The gate transports you to a small explorable village, where Garth and Reaver may be encountered. Delivering the letter to Reaver, he returns to his Mansion (and offers to duel you for it, you may forfeit, win or lose (but must spare his life, because of the court)) and announces that he now has use of you and must collect a good deal of money (a fairly short pirating quest) and you and he take the money to Temple of Shadows and pay the monks to rebuild the cathedral that they are under. Upon waiting a week (unrealistic, but w/e) the building is complete and sacrifices are now done in the cathedral directly to the court. This makes the temple much more serious and allows you to massacre any city or area you like to ruin the continent for corrupt or just pure destructive purposes.

3. When you speak with Garth, he tells of a few ancient weapons (And stones) that together have the power to break the time flow and disrupt the world. The three legendary weapons and three Divinity gems must be collected quickly. One of each is already in your possession (Archon's Dream and Daichi [or available from questing (or repurchase if sold)]) the remaining three are hidden in areas related to the ancient Hero of Oakvale in order to recover new dungeons have to be uncovered through magical restoration of the Guild Cave and Oakvale. Once the Daichi, Sword of Aeons and Solus Greatsword [Archon's Dream, Will and Power] are located the gems are sealed in Garth's tower and you may keep one of the weapons, but the other two must be destroyed.

After these, if you are good (and chose the good ending), Rose and Scythe will show up living in a restored castle ruin in Brightwood, there is no serious quest with them except to meet them. After corrupting or purifying all the lands, Theresa reappears from the Spire to make a wish (if good, she returns members of her family and the guild to living in the restored areas; if evil, she grants true rulership over the continent you ruined to jest at you), also all heroes stay as immortal villagers, they may be married (both Hammer and Garth straight) or just fooled around with as Reaver may prefer...but are still considered immortal.

[Too huge for a DLC, but awesome and I can keep dreaming :p]

Oh yea, plz feel free to critique this or feel free to make your own developed ideas and items that it'd be cool to exist, peace.

Re: Think Like a Developer

I think you might have a little too much free time

jk, you've got some pretty good ideas.

also, and I know ive said this in another thread, but Peter Molyneux (if you really read the credits, he's the first person listed) is on Twitter, under the name of pmolyneux. He hasn't updated in 20 days, but he is supposedly looking for ideas for Fable 3, and he might be interested in what you have to say. As far as I know, Twitter is the only place where you can honestly pitch ideas to Mr Molyneux.

Keep Dreamin :)

I lied :p you can also contact Lionhead at there website, lionhead.com/ContactUs

Some very cool ideas, mate. For me: As long as there's a ton of unlockable achievements then I'm keen.

Seriously? These that good? I mean I want to either get a job as a designer or own a company one day. [In college double majoring in art and english for the skills in art design and script writing] Don't want to embarrass myself professionally before I start...
