Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

i would call that a disagreement. sorry o_O
he disagrees that the stealing was fun in the first game. his opinion is that your wishlist is selfish. you don't think your being overly defensive in the slightest?

No, by "rip apart" I mean taking my thread and virtually criticizing each and every subject I put out there no matter what I say. Please take this post for example:

Now do you understand what I mean by, "rip apart". I understand what a discussion and what an argument is.

A disscusion is NOT saying, "So you're saying just because YOU don't enjoy and use it, it has to be scrapped from the game? Sorry, but that's really selfish." That is more of an insult than anything. As well as the smiley face after the disagreement which signifies mockery.
BTW, Arl, I was giving an opinion as I had said before, and I don't see how that is selfish of me if I thought the dog was useless. =/

How would you define "ripping apart" then?

Anyway, what we are having right now is a disagreement, correct. However when I start calling you a stubborn, thick-minded person it escalates. (and no I am not calling you that, just giving you an example.) Calling someone selfish is virtually the same thing, and I don't see how that statement was even selfish. I was stating what I thought would be the opinion of the majority..

Anyway, the two views on "ripping apart" are indeed opinions, as it is a slang term...so the current debate will go on and on without end. So I offer a truce, and say that both opinions are correct in each of our respected opinions, do you agree?

As well, I am sorry for stating some of my opinions in the form of facts, as I sometimes have a problem discerning the two. :(

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

I felt there was no need for me to respond to the points I agreed with, so I didn't making my post look overall negative. So what was your point, coding_bro? You wanted us not to disagree? You wanted us to just look at it and say, "Hey, he posted it and says it's his opinion, and we should totally accept what he says. Hell, let's all send a letter to Peter Molyneux saying that the dog sucked!"

Yes. At this point, I'm being overly critical, but that's only because you're were being such a whiny little boy. Deal with it. It's a forum.

    1. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
    2. A public meeting place for open discussion.
    3. A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.
  1. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.
  2. A court of law; a tribunal.

What I wanted wasn't a truce. It's not necessary for an official or unofficial agreement. I just find you really unreasonable.

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

"Whiny Little boy" Haha, I am sorry, but I am honestly acting more mature than calling others names. I believe you should revise this thought, as calling others name...really isn't as 'mature' as actually trying to work things out, as I am doing.

What I wanted wasn't a truce. It's not necessary for an official or unofficial agreement.
This here also cracks me up; so your saying truces aren't needed for an agreement! Well obviously! However truces may be needed for a disagreement maybe you should try to learn the difference between the two.

Go ahead and keep underlining your definitions saying, "A public meeting place for open discussion.", as calling someone "selfish" or a , "whiny little boy" is not a public meeting place for open discussion. Maybe you should try to learn your definitions a little better as well!

Over-all you crack me up with your attempt at trying to 'prove a point'. How old are you, 10?

*Oh and by the way, this message was just a disagreement of your above post.*

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

I liked Fable 2, I especially liked the dog, mostly because I'm a dog lover. And it's something I'd like to see expanded on in the next game. The armor I could take it or leave it. Although the knothole glade armor in this game looks awesome.

You're right about the bosses though, I too wish there was more variety in the bosses instead of just facing a troll every so often.

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I was looking for as replies. I wasn't looking for any comments saying i'm selfish or wrong, I just wanted you to express your opinions. Thanks for the great responses!

I think that the dirty/clean bar is a great idea..that would be much better in my opinion.

As far as being a dog-lover is concerned, I understand that, and realize the majority of the population like the dog. I suppose it is one of Fable 2's most unique aspects..

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

I'm not going to comment on the rest of the stuff you mentioned, but I partly disagree about the dog. I liked the dog, but he could have been less annoying. Really I think they should keep the dog, but make it so he only alerts you to dig spots, and then only when you are VERY close to them. Otherwise he should keep his mouth shut.

Another good idea about the dog would be to make getting him optional. If you want one, you go get one and he is just like the dog in Fable 2 (only less annoying) and doesnt die (because that would be annoying, there is nothing quite as bad as having to protect NPCs in games). And if you dont want the dog, you simply dont get it. Mabey there could be a dog pound or something. And if you dont want the dog with you, you just leave him at the pound and get him back when you want him. Or just leave it there the entire game if it doenst interest you. That way, dog or no dog, everyones happy.

One more thing, dig spots and treasure chests should have better, more practical things in them. I dont want to be digging up any more pies...

I like the idea of choosing a dog if you want to. The game itself is about the player's choices, so it would be a great addition to that concept. I also like the idea of making it so he doesn't give away ALL of the spots unless you are pretty close. This would make the concept of 'treasure hunting' more practical.

I also think digging up things worth a little more would be a good addition as well. Besides..who would want a pie infested with earthworms?

The first fable is really awesome. If you ever decide to invest in the game, get Fable: The Lost Chapters..same game, just has more quests and locations.

Hey fans, I'm new here. Sirsimon's the name, fable's my game.

I can understand that certain aspects of the game were bad, seriously, but Fable 2 had higher ratings than Fable and I liked Fable 2 because it was enjoyable, there were times when I laughed and gasped. and theres the idea of being a hero in a world that you can change with actions.

People have to realize that each game has a message, fable was about embracing destiny, fable 2 was about realizing consquences and fable 3 will be about handling world changing power.

Once you realize these meanings, then the game becomes all the sweeter.

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

I'll respond to the agreements

• Awesome armor! This added a new variable to the game, making users feel more ‘comforted’ when they find a nice new suit of shiny armor.
Armor is gone because guns are around. There is no point or place for armor any more in Fable, I liked it too, but do you think Armor would be fitting in future Fables? No, imo. However I did like them, it just doesn't fit.

• The ability to STEAL! This was a great addition. It made me (and most likely many of you) feel like I was sneaky and conniving. Not to mention I had a brand new piece of equipment I could test out.
Oh yes, that was fun (but hard). They might add it in, seeing that you actually go to shelves to purchase items, maybe you can steal them.

• The graphics. The graphics were great for the original xbox, and they gave a fantasy feel with the soft textures and glowing environment. This was great.
I LOVED the character models and designs for the first Fable, completely epic. They need to take them, smooth them out and fit them into the 360 for modern-day smoothness. They'd be epic, but Fable III doesn't have them, it is seen in the demos that they use 2's designs.

• AWESOME storyline. I loved how the storyline in the first fable came together. The arena and the notorious ‘Jack of Blades’ was ingenious concepts within the storyline. The first fable actually TOLD the storyline in artistic-like cut scenes..as though it was a FABLE. Fable 2 didn’t really have that element.
Yeah, a great storyline. Awesomely epic, a powerful enemy, many different threats, branches of storylines, I loved it too.

• The Bosses. There weren’t many bosses, but DEFINITELY more than the amount of bosses in Fable 2. The first fable had Whisper, The Scorpion Giant, Thunder, Jack of Blades, Jack of Blades in Dragon Form, Wasp Queen, Twinblade, Evil Nymph, Arachanox, Kraken, and Maze. Fable 2 only had Thag, and a giant triangle…am I missing something? If I am then it was not memorable.
I hated the idea of bosses in 2. I don't even remember 'bosses'. In Fable II, a boss died the same way a normal guy did, hack n slash, shoot, burn. In 1, you actually needed to strategize and mix things up (Hydra, Twinblade etc)... I miss them.

• The chests. W00t, the chests actually had some good stuff in them, like armor, weapons, and clothes. The chests in Fable 2 only had potions and food…how boring.
Well, as you can see Fable 1 had some GREAT qualities that Fable 2 is obviously missing.
Now let’s take a look at some of the qualities that Fable 2 has that aren’t so desirable.
I liked finding actual TREASURES in the game, good ones.

Well, as you can see Fable 1 had some GREAT qualities that Fable 2 is obviously missing.

Now let’s take a look at some of the qualities that Fable 2 has that aren’t so desirable.

• Jobs. Oh wow, where to begin…The jobs in Fable 2 are BORING. They merely require you to push a single button when the time is right. How in the world can this be fun? This also makes it so getting a desired piece of equipment is easy. Not SHORT, but easy. By this I mean, getting what you want takes long, and tedious time, making you want to chuck the controller at the screen the first couple of minutes of pushing the ‘a’ button.
Jobs were a good idea, just not implemented right. They should've worked on them, made them better. I mean, the addition of jobs made you feel like part of the town (which I like to do after beating it), they should've deisnged them differently.

• The dog. This addition has a few different views. Many like it and some don’t. I however am one of the people who don’t. Yes, throwing a little rubber ball into an abyss, and having the dog act like it found the ball 100 ft. short of where you threw it seems like fun…it has nothing to do with the RPG, and is utterly pointless and boring. I also LIKE to find the treasure chests ON MY OWN. I don’t want to know where every single chest is in the game without even trying to search for it, it completely defeats the purpose of even having them.
The Dog was cool I think. I'll leave it at that,

• Pure AND Corruption. Yes, I am sure that many of you may disagree with me on this one as well. However I think two friggen bars saying that you are evil are too many. Yes, I understand that you can be “pure and evil” at the same time, giving you a new look…who actually has those stats? I mean..you have to go significantly out of your way to get both notches on opposite ends of the bar to achieve such a look. Why don’t they just make the notch exceed the length of the bar? By this, I mean just have the notch quite literally run OFF the page if you are truly that evil or good. This by far would make playing more enjoyable, knowing that there is not ‘limitation’. I would also like to have seen more significant transformations. I am sure most of you have seen the demon on the cover of the fable 2 box…why not make it so your character can be transformed to that extent? THAT would be cool.
This added better character morphing, more diverse areas of morphing and made me want to check them all out. I liked it.

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

Long thread is long I didn't read much more than 3 posts but I'll agree that the dog is annoying, the storyline kinda kept me enthralled but not even holding a candle to Fable 1 and on the whole Fable 1 is waaaaay more fun to play than Fable 2.

I'd also like to add my own complaint about Fable 2: Your hero is fugly. No matter what you do, you will be fugly. If the only thing you focus on is your appearance, you might get up to acceptable. But this is compared to Fable 1, where you looked totally kick-ass unless you really tried.

Oh, did I necro? I can't take time to check so I'll just hope I didn't.

Re: Fable 3 Does and Dont's

The fable series is like one work in progress... The second one introduced alot of new features, and most of them, in my opinion, were good.
People complain about there being no armour, but actually, the guns and trenchcoats idea was pretty apropriate. Go back and play the first fable again before you say it's better than the second one.
I was dissapointed at the lack of bosses in the second game, the choppy animations (The dog sitting down at the start of the game), the fact that your children are really un-engaging and to be honest I wasn't big on the new magic system, and there were too few spells.

But the graphics are better, the story isn't so bad, the way the world has changed- you can go to oakvale but due to the time gap it's not even reffered to as oakvale, the combat is better (Not the magic), the economy is better and bowerstone itself has improved.

"MR GORBACHEV! TEAR DOWN THIS WALL!!!"

and kidding aside I did love the stealing in Fable 1 I actually knew what I wanted to steal >_> but I love the dog! Most of your points are good but some of them I do have to disagree on like the Purity and the Corruption that made the game just a little bit more appealing to me and was also a good way to make your character look different :\ But I do have to agree on Jobs they were Boring and repetitive I missed the times when I got paid to do quests and get like a random 100 gold from wasps -_-. I did like the bounty hunter jobs I had to kill a troll :) but that's another thing that bugged me was the Trolls >_> they weren't as fun as the Fable 1 Trolls.
