Amen to this, I have often pondered this topic myself. I think it's because Asians are classed as brown, but I'm not sure

Hispanics & South Asians are.

For East & North Asia it is, but I find it funny, because some Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese are more white than yellow. Although I did see a picture of a Japanese girl with a tan... she was orange.

Have you ever seen a (for want of a better term) pure west African? Black is pretty justified. Interbreeding has pretty much meant that black people aren't really black, in western countries anyway.

Ya I believe the ones living around the equator are very very dark.

Also, would there be a chance that the Asian association with yellow is linked to it being the "morning land" or "land of the rising sun"?

Nope. Since Chinese, Koreans, Kazakhstanis, etc. tend to also have a yellowish tint to their skin and not just the Japanese. LotRS is just another name for Japan because the Sun always rises in the East first, not because they're yellow. The only effect the Sun would have on their skin color is giving them a tan and consequently bringing out more yellow for some people.

Once again, I'd wager that the yellow tag was made up by us white folks. In contrast to us, Asian people do appear a creamy yellow.

Indeed it was, but they definitely have some slight yellow coloration, especially those who are tan/brown. Like this guy:

I don't doubt you're aware that it was also White people who would label Native Americans/Indians as "Red people". Asians and Native Americans never asked or wished to be labeled as such, and many take heavy offense to it (unlike most Black people, which adds to the confusion).

We even have a football team named the "Redskins" which has caused plenty of controversy, and they will not change the name either. My home state's baseball mascot is Chief Wahoo, who is a cartoony Indian with pure red skin, which has also heavily offended them. It's ridiculous.

Gikoku is completely correct on the mindset of the different races.

I'm impressed. How seldom it is one meets a fellow spirit.

Another thing - I'm beginning to get annoyed at people's views on Mixed-Race. Whenever people say they're half Chinese and half English online, people just assume they'd look Chinese.

Fact of the matter is, they're probably more appealing to the eye than either of the stereotypes.

Here is a picture of my friend:

He is half Chinese and half English.

I'm not saying he's especially appealing, just that you would never guess he's "Asian" from looking at him.

I could tell he was Chinese after you pointed it out.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a country somewhere in that area who representative color is purple for some reason.

Black history in college?

I was barely sober through college.

Got no freaking idea what was going on, regardless of the colour.
