Yeah man.. listen to Tyloric. You really might want to get some psychiatric help if you're considering harming yourself because of your job, I say keep your job but be searching every day and applying for others jobs too, if it gets bad then tell your boss and try and get a week off or something, man.

Search for another job while keeping this one, don't cut or hit yourself. And watch some Grindhouse movies to feel better.

What happened is basically I worked at this Telephone/ISP company called Telia for a while. Was a sweet job. Then when my contract ended they said "Dude, you rock! But we can't keep hiring you... but we can work out a deal, see....". Now I don't know the English term, but in Swedish it is "Bemanningsföretag"; basically a company that makes a living by whoring out their employees to other companies. So instead of giving me a "real" job at Telia, I had to sign up to this company called Proffice (Fellow Swedes, stay the f*ck away from Proffice!!!!) and I got to "keep" my job at Telia that way.

At least, that's what they told me. What they didn't tell me was that they were gonna rob me of every single right I had at Telia; I always work 12:30-21:00 because none of the "real" Telia Employees wants to take that shift and us ******s from Proffice are there to cover their asses. And do we get paid as much as a Telia employee to compensate? Hah! Never....

This ****ing deal has robbed me off my life; I do nothing but work, ride the bus from and to my job, and sleep. I got no free time whatsoever, not even during Satur/Sunday since they force us to work most of the weekends. All of this makes me feel real f*cking depressed and I don't even want to leave the bed. Don't know what's worse; being a Proffice prostitute or the fact that Telia sold me out like this. Last week they fired a long time workmate over nothing, and ever since I've seriously been thinking about harming myself to get my life back.

Yeah, I love being alive far too much to kill myself. But and of you non-Swedes know what type of employment I'm talking about? Being "sold" to another company to do the same type of work and workload as the "real" employees except on terrible terms and conditions? Not to mention pay...

Yeah, sales. That's another thing. When I was a "real" employee I was sitting at the Support department. But afterwards I was forcefully transfered to the Sales departement. So now I have to annoy people by selling them stuff, I hate it. Not only does it make me feel terrible, but do you think I get provision like the "real" employees sitting next to me....? No way.

It's seriously eating away at the very core of my very being. I'd go postal, but I actually like the workplace and the friends I've got here. It is just that I am working for a terrible, terrible company.

I have no experience of what you're describing, m'fraid. I'm still in my Senior year at 'High School' so the longest I've ever had to work was a 5 hour English exam...

Did you say you work in telesales or something? You could always find a way to enjoy your job, such as littering you advertisments with subliminal messages. That way, if you get fired, at least you will have had some fun, amiright?

Since my parents don't want a lazy layabout living in their basement; their one condition for me to still live at home is that I work. If I stop working I'll get kicked out, and without any source of income to pay for a new place that isn't a situation I'd like to find myself in. So until I can find a better job* I'm sorta stuck. I had hoped for this job to be "sturdy" enough for me to dare move out of my parents's basement but that obviously wasn't the case....


*there are like no jobs available with all dumb high school kids having summervacation and taking up all the jobs...

I would honestly just wait it out until it gets a little closer to Christmas. As long as you're over 21, which I think you are, then you can find a job easily.

It's what my sister did when she was working stupid hours at a sh*t job with crap pay.

I'd also recommend taking some travel time. Maybe keeping your "christmas" job for a short period of time and going somewhere for 6 months. It'll give you time to relax and maybe change your life.

Once again, it's what my sister did. She's a changed person.

Well having had nothing but crappy jobs since leaving school I can sympathise

On a slightly more practical note, do you have a contract and if so, what does it say in terms of your employment rights, conditions, pay etc? Is there a loophole you can exploit or anything you can throw at them to say that actually they have to treat you differently? Is there a way you can insist on a change of hours, if nothing else? You might be able to get some time off if your doctor can sign you off with stress or something - if that's recognised as a condition you can use (in the UK practically everyone gets to be signed off with "stress" regardless of whether they are actually stressed at all - it's so stupid).

Do you get paid holiday? Can you take any time off classed as that just to have a break? And why not scout for other work that hasn't been taken by students whilst you're stuck with this company?
