Jack of Blades Voice

As you may have noticed, Jack of Blades voice is different in TLC as apposed to the original Fable. This thread isn't about which you prefer, it is about one thing... WHY IN GOD'S NAME DID THEY CHANGE HIS VOICE!!! It has nothing to do with a different voice actor because Lionhead took his original voice and just made it deeper, why? In the original it sounds creepy and doesn't make you think he's evil right away but his TLC voice is just cliche. Do all villians have to talk in such a deep voice? For once we had something different and Lionhead had to screw it up! So why change the voice?

Because they wanted to turn him from simply an insane warrior who wears a mask and wants a sword to something more demonic, something that's existed for a very long time. Also, I can't imagine why they would make the first voice he had also the voice of a gigantic red dragon.

It's supposed to be more menacing. I did like the first one most though, because of the psychopathic style to it. It just wouldn't have fit an ancient evil being of great power.

I thought his first voice wouldn't work well in his dragon form either but they could have had his first voice for most of the game but when he speaks to the Hero telepathically and when he's in his dragon form they could have had his second voice.

Well, then we would be questioning why it had changed anyway. You could probably make a mod to change it if you really wanted to, but I liked both really.

Yeah, I would but i'm new to modding and if you ask me modding sounds complicated. I guess I should just accept that they changed his voice but I still prefer the original.

Re: Jack of Blades Voice

I've always maintained that the Original is greater than TLC.

And I agree that they should have has his original voice for when he is in human form, and his TLC voice for when he's in dragon form. Since Jack gets around by hijacking peoples bodies, the host's original voice would be the voice that he speaks with, so it makes sense.

I liked the first voice because it brings a guise and uneasiness to the hero on not knowing exactly what you were facing. Then when they made it deep it just went yes your evil but i found it over the top and obvious (even to the guards who couldn’t even read.) I think a change in voice once he was striped if his human host would have been good because then you would have realized you weren’t just facing an evil villain but something much older and much more menacing and something that has survived over ages not just the last 100 years.

Re: Jack of Blades Voice

Well I liked Jack's voice in TLC (because that was the first Fable game I bought :p) but I did listen to a few lines of the original and I kinda thought it wasn't his thing. Because I believe (IMHO) that having the deep voice made him more "mysterious" (well this is only for new players unlike some veterans here :p) when I was playing it for the first time I didn't know he was evil but I knew he was pretty much a bad-@$# (sorry I don't swear in real life and I'm not going to swear here XP) but! either way I liked his deeper voice...but If I had the other one with his original voice I would have grown to like it anyway and most of the reasons posted here are well said and are right to the mark....so yeah.

Re: Jack of Blades Voice

I can't remember his old voice by now, but I do remember it being much much better, in my opinion. I wish someone makes a mod to change his voice back, until the dragon that is.

Really Lionhead should release a patch, give us the unfinished business, and maybe even an official tool to boot.

Nah, Fable TLC is dead. Lionhead have stopped working on it a long time ago, and as far as I can tell, there's not a lot of people left out there modding it.

Re: Jack of Blades Voice

I prefer the original, the TLC voice sounds too cliche evil it's too 'in Your face!' evil. The original voice was less imposing but more sinister, He sounds like Donald Pleasance or Hannibal Lector I prefer this voice cause it has more emotion & sums up His deceptive personality. It makes Him sounds like a proper sociopath.

Re: Jack of Blades Voice

I think they changed his voice to convey a different type of evil. The higher pitched voice showed him as a deranged ancient warrior. With a deeper, more powerful voice, they made him more demonic and menacing.

But it's cliche, and it didn't need to be changed.
