It is step by step. It's
procedural. It tells you what to do and where. What you want me to do is put numbers in front of each step. But fine, fine. Whatever. I'll do it, and you'll figure it out, and we'll be done.
Making Backups
- Open My Computer.
- Navigate to your Fable install directory (usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters\
- Open the data folder.
- Right-click the game.bin file, click Copy.
- Right-click the background of the window, click Paste.
- Right-click the Copy of game.bin file, click Rename.
- Rename the file to game.bin.bak
Restoring from backups
Obviously you shouldn't do this now. But in the event that you want to revert the edits you're going to make, follow these step-by-step instructions.
- Navigate to your Fable install directory.
- Open the data folder.
- Delete the game.bin.
- Rename the game.bin.bak file to game.bin
And it's best to make another backup after that.

Scrunched face, sheathing, effect and clothing placement issues.

- Click File|Load Fable Mod Package.
- Navigate to and select the Mesh swap fix.fmp, then click Open.
- In FableExplorer, navigate to the CREATURE entries, find and open 1470 - CREATURE_HERO.
- In the newly opened entry window, click the plus sign to expand the contents of the entry.
- Click on CDefs to have the CDefs shown in the right panel of the entry window.
- In the right panel of the entry window, scroll down until you find CCreatureDef.
- Click the blue link that says Links to GameBINEntryID: to open the Hero's CCreatureDef entry window.
- Click the plus sign to expand the contents of the CCreatureDef.
- Find and click on F0F1CA81 - Expressions.
- You will see an array with four listings. Each listing will have its own box. Each box will have a button in the top-right corner labeled "Del". Click the "Del" button in each box.
- Change the number 4 on top to 0, since there are now 0 listings.
- Click Apply Changes in the CCreatureDef entry window, close the entry.
- Click Actions|Save Mods and Run Fable.
You will still have the clothing problems mentioned in the first post and you will still have animation problems, since you'll have a different mesh trying to use the Hero's animations.
Fixing the clothes to be NPC-friendly
Use
this tutorial to merge the boot meshes into the trouser armors and the glove meshes into the shirt armors. While you're following that tutorial, take note of these extra steps in each CAppearanceModifierDef:
- Change the clipping prevention strings (at the top of each CAppearanceModifierDef) accordingly. Trouser armors should have only one line, it should say "legs". Shirt armors should have only one line, it should say "torso". Anything else, you can get rid of by pressing the "Del" button. Exceptions: OBJECT_HERO_SHIRT, OBJECT_HERO_SHIRT_GOOD, OBJECT_HERO_SHIRT_EVIL, OBJECT_HERO_SHIRT_BANDITCAMP. You will still merge the armors for these entries, but there shouldn't be any clipping prevention strings. Boobs will still protrude from the shirts but that's not as bad as arms and chest being invisible.
- Change the armor percentages (at the bottom of each CAppearanceModifierDef). Shirts are 0.4 by default, change them to 0.5. Trousers are 0.35 by default, change them to 0.4.
Always remember to click Apply Changes for each entry when you're done editing them.
When you're all done making edits, click Actions|Save Mods and Run Fable.
Also, you're still going to need to change the animations used by the Hero because he's going to look awfully weird using Hero animations in a woman's mesh. There are tutorials on how to do this, there is a specialized tool. But because you have trouble with the instructions I have already given you, I am not going to help you with that.
