Sibling rivalry.

First off Id like to say that i have NO idea if this topic was already started and apologize if such is the case. Second of all Id like to warn you all of this long-winded wall text I am about to write... (side-effects may include the bleeding of eyes. :D)

Anyways, as I was researching if there was any more news I could dig up on fable 3 characters a while ago before I joined the fourm I read the "bio" for Logan on fable wiki. I found this quote under "trivia" interesting...
"It is unknown whether Logan hates his brother/sister or simply wants power and will go to anything to keep it. "
Now, since I know everyones fable 2 character's choices will have an effect on the game I am a bit puzzled. I know that not all families are perfect, but the fable 2 character could be pretty near perfect if they followed the path of good. I, personally, was neutral throughout the game. But If you compared the choices I made (most of them being good) then my character was a generally good girl, but with a bit of a roguish personality.
While there are certainly exceptions to the rule of "the apple dosent fall far from the tree" I still have trouble seeing someone who appears as rotten as logan being the genetic child of my heroine without some serious backstory explaining it.

Anyone have any interesting theories of how logan becomes the puppy-kicking, child-enslaving, candy-stealing jerkwad he appears to be today? :ermm:

Besides the fact your hero will be the only competition for the crown there should be (in theory) another reason why logan hates you (if he truly does at all).. Perhaps logan was simply not the favorite child and has jealousy issues because of it (much like the Disney represenation of Prince John in Robin hood)? :p

That made for an interesting and throughly riveting read
Yeh, I'm thinking because The Fable 3 Hero was the runt of the family, he was favoured by he Fable 2 hero, who felt sympathy for him being the weaker of his children.
Logan might have gotten jealous, and so he kicks the Fable 3 Hero out of the castle into the street :ninja:

Re: Sibling rivalry.

My hypothesis the hero of bowerstone wrote who would be his successor(in my opinion the hero of fable 3), Logan then proceeded to aquire this document and forged a copy naming him as next in line for the thrown. Logan could be this evil if the Hero of Bowerstone was a saint as his father would spoil his son rotten, turning logan into a cruel, vicious brat who takes only what what he wants and damns the consequences.

Re: Sibling rivalry.

Well here are a few answers, in order of "Most likely (for me)" to "Least likely (for me)"

1. Some people are just a-holes.

2. Absolute power (which is what Logan apparently has ("Its people will do as I say, or they will die")) will make anybody a bit wonky in the brain. That's why the younger child would be better fit for the throne, since he/she would actually have to work to get the power, rather than just being given it at some random time.

3. Maybe Logan suffered some terrible tragedy as a child? Maybe he was dropped on his soulpatch one too many times.

4. OH WHOO NOSE AMIRITE

Re: Sibling rivalry.

Truth be told, I really do hope that Logan isn't the stereotypical Black & white bad guy. I want Him to be human in terms of His personality instead of the cliche pure evil bad guy. In other words, I want to actually feel something if I am forced to kill Him. I hope it actually feels like Logan is Your character's brother, this would strengthen the feeling of sibling rivalry as well as the whole 'why did it have to come to this brother?' feeling if You are forced to kill Him.

A good idea, but Logan would not have to forge a note, for what I hear the older sibling takes the crown, what Logan is.

Maybe he started off a good guy but was corrupted by the power of being king. And by that i mean the concubines...

Please don't tell me thats your logic for real life too o_O

Everyone has a source for problems, EVERYONE. You have to get to know a person before they open up to you what the problem is.. though I admit some tend to get ****ty with you and it doesn't seem like they had much trouble in life.. But they do tend to have one.

I'm sure that is what this thread is about even. The source of some villain's pent up rage.

I know, right? I have faith in the actors I know are playing certain roles to do a good job with them though... hopefully lionhead will have designed him to be an interesting guy... kinda like that jerk, Loghain (lol even sounds like logan), from Dragonage origins.... I think he was VERY well written and played (hell, the whole game in itself was), and I wouldnt mind our logan acting in a similar manner provided they make sure he expresses a brotherly relationship with our hero.

Still, I feel like Logans behavior is a direct respose from a level of possible "fail parenting" (I am going to totally find a way to make "Fail Parenting" into a catchpharse) and since my fable 2 heroine is literally a virgin queen then I dont think she has an excuse to blame the mystery father. o_O

Gawd, I keep replaying the Disney Robin Hood movie in my head... Someone make it stop. :getlost:

Sir Walter: Sire... you seem to have broken your mother's mirror...
Logan: Ah! Mommy! (Proceeds to suck his thumb)

Agreed, I'm glad they have a good quality cast for the characters. Im just glad that in terms of dialouge/cutscenes it won't be another Oblivion (don't get Me wrong the game itself was smashing :D) where You stare into a lifeless slab of talking meat that the characters have for a face I doubt it will be that bad.

Oh Yeah, don't mean to be an asskisser or anything but the phrase 'FAIL Parenting'...

It works, stick with it.

Re: Sibling rivalry.

Sibling rivalry may not be the answer? Interesting though. I think they may get along till, the main Hero finds the hardships of the people, horrible, maybe an arguement over it? Something has to trigger your hero, into action. Not sure what that something is. My Paragon hero would not just kill her brother, for nothing. o_O +rep

Re: Sibling rivalry.

Maybe someone else caused logan to be awful like an advisor and made him kill his father. It could also be someone secretly controlling logan but when you kill the one controllig logan gives you the throne and helps you.

Re: Sibling rivalry.

I've always imagined Logan as an "ends justify the means" kind of ruler.

His ends is a more powerful and economically prosperous Albion, to accomplish that he uses the most easy and cheap method: child labour.

Perhaps he knows of Auroras intentions of threatening Albion and is doing what he feels will strengthen Albion as quick as possible for a potential invasion.

As for why he is as ruthless as he is, despite having a potential saint as a parent, he'll probably ***** about how mommy or daddy didn't give him enough attention because they were out questing and killing monsters.

Re: Sibling rivalry.

The thing is, your parents could be the most wonderful people in the world but you could easily turn out to be the biggest asshole. Why? Because every little event in our life helps to shape who we are and it's possible that Logan experienced things that turned him down the path of evil. Personally though, I don't care. Once I kill off Logan (provided PM gives us that option), I'll rule my kingdom with an iron fist.

I have a feeling they'll reveal Logan as more morally gray than downright evil.

Kind of like Lucien, had the right intentions but lost control of things.

Re: Sibling rivalry.

my guess is that sparrow was too easy on his children, giving them everything they wanted. so as a result, logan because spoilt and power hungry, and probably too eager to be king, that he killed sparrow.

the fable 3 hero's childhood will probably be decided in another fable intro thing where he/she does the tiniest of tasks, which affect things way more than they should

There was something Logan said that pretty much labeled him as the evil guy. If I can find it, I'll show it to you. It was actually a pretty decent motto I plan on adopting in Fable III, haha.

Re: Sibling rivalry.

He says something like "The people of Albion will obey me or they will die".

Maybe all the tyranny and enslavement he uses is for a greater good of strengthening Albion from possible Aurora attacks, or Logan might be unaware of Auroras existence and is merely a generic tyrant.

Only time will tell.
