Within a couple hours of gameplay, I had the only weapons I was going to need for the rest of the game. Because of that, I had no motivation to go out and earn money/invest in real estate, which in turn left me pretty much broke for the kingdom management part which I of course assumed would be no big deal, right? Go out, make some money, invest, and put it in the treasury, right? Wrong, once you become king you can barely do anything else until you've completed the game. I was pretty much forced to take about 3mil casualties and the few that are still alive hate me. The map feels like it was thrown together in 10 minutes, buildings are placed in a general area and sometimes just lumped together because they are near each other. It looks nothing like the actual area, and it doesn't help that waypoints can only be set on quest NPCs.

Not to mention that the kingdom management which was hyped up so hard boils down to nothing more than a few quests and some Money vs. Citizen Happiness choices. Reaver argues for the side of Money in every choice, they were too lazy to even throw anyone else in there. The game decided I was 100% evil, even though I tried to keep a balance, and from what I can tell there is no straightforward way to raise my morality (i.e. Fable II's temple donations) so now everyone is terrified of me which is pretty annoying when I just want to walk through town without everyone begging for their lives

They've stripped away so many things that made me fall in love with Fable II, including most of the humor. Fable II's progression system is thrown out the window for a system of earning seals that simply buy everything. Side quests serve almost no purpose other than progressing the main storyline through earning seals, which makes them feel like nothing more than a grind, especially since basic features that one would expect from a Fable game must be bought with seals. The quests felt so stock and boring as well, just "Go here, kill this, find this, come back, repeat."

The NPC interaction system is nothing near the glory it was made out to be. It's clumsy, tedious, and regardless of the fact that I have spent seals to unlock all the expressions, the game only gives me a choice of the same ones over and over. The courier quests are pointless time-wasters.

Add on top of all that the fact that the storyline is about only about 10 hours of gameplay (I don't know what he was smoking when he said you get to be king "halfway through the game", because it's more like the last 2 hours) and I was extremely disappointed. This isn't what I'd expect from the third title in a series, it feels like they've gone backwards.

Sorry for the rant, just hoping I'm not the only one who thought this game was pretty half-assed.

I beat the game in about 7 hours gameplay, and i did alot of the side quests before i got stuck in the king affairs. Im hoping there is some good DLC content for this game or else i should of just went with labeling this amazing series' third game in the rent category :'( oh well though i will still play it about 5 times over like i alwayts do with all the fable games... but yeah i wish it could have a little bit longer game play and focus more on jobs/owning buisnessesand such.

i have faith in you lionhead! make some cool DLC!!

I've played for 20+ hrs... I'm not even King yet.. I'm busy getting rich, doing all side quests, finding all keys, chests, gnomes, etc... And making families...

Sure.. Ifu blow right through the main quest line, u can be done in 7-10hrs.

However, npc interaction sucks, u can't give gifts to npcs, and a lot of the customizations we has in prev versions are gone

Well if you read my thread you know i'm VERY disappointed with the way they handled the crime system. There are also a lot of bugs, and i HATE waiting so long to get some of my cool DLC items. Not to mention i haven't received ANY DLC other then the pre-order bonuses(minus the villager) on my offline profile. They need to fix it soon.
I'm almost wishing i didn't pre-order and instead bought Assassin's Creed II.

*Some spoilers here*
mainly my anger comes from the king "part" of the game, everything before it was still fun and great with some drawbacks, but the king part of the game was terrible and obviously rushed. no doubt this was the biggest selling point of the game, to rule albion and drive it to prosperity or destruction - i think many of us had formulated plans on what they would do with the kingdom once they became king.

And then in the last minute they throw in this storyline about darkness incarnate coming to take over the world, and that in order to save the people you pretty much need to be just like logan, or work your ass off. this pretty much destroyed any of the 'plans' i made for albion, sure i understand that being a king is hard, but its really just "oh your king, btw the world is going to be practically destroyed in a year so we need 6.5 million gold". basically the king part really just boils down to: make a few morality decisions, go get some stuff and kill some things, and now were ready to take on the big threat coming - nothing innovative at all. i wasnt expecting too much from fable 3, i know Peter Molyneux hypes things up to the point of insanity ive been playing since fable 1 but this is just insane.

They could have easily fleshed out the king part - make taxes actually come into the empire, use it to build or upgrade new things on your command not through morality choices, make new towns and generally strengthen albion where you see fit. It doesnt feel like the "second-part" of the game many of us were looking for, theres no real difference to the gameplay, its more just making more obvious alignment choices.

oh, and on the topic of Logan, unless this is fleshed out somewhere in a side quest, the whole revolution thing passed to easily, i didnt like how you pretty much barged down logans door and then he's pretty much like "oh good so i can get rid of the throne", they didnt really develop the relationship between the two enough =\. and no cutscene for the darkness invading albion! they just appeared and that was that.

also what happened to oakfield and the other towns of fable 2? at least fable 2 explained what happened to the world in fable 1, it feels like everything they've built upon they've decided to ditch.

sorry for the long rant, i clearly was dissapointed by this game too..

I was extremely ****ed about the king part, first off, I wanted to actually like to be king and have alot of options having to do with everything, not just going to court 4 times and thats it. There should have been way more to it, like i want to actually run a empire, and as for locations, why was there 16 locations in the whole game?I expected around 20 something atleast i mean its an entire country, and aurora has 3 locations which are extremely small, what about that huge desert on the left side of aurora on the map table, nothing there..As for logan, i was ready for him when i saw him flash his blade as i stormed in the room.Instead he hits me with this prepared speech about why he did it,(if that was the case about why he did it, he still shouldnt have been killing people or handled it like that), and when your taking bowerstone, you go straight from old town all the way to the war room door without fighting anything. Last but certainly not least and the biggest item on my list, THE CRAWLER:I hate him with a passion, he is nothing to me, i mean there is no need for this so caleld war, more like a battle to me(with the exception of the scenery), if i had the choice i dont need the army, i would run up on the crawler myself, but instead he hides like a coward and i never get to face him, cept inside walter. The crawler is trash, i would rather face a group of bandits before this war. sucked intirely. Im done with my rant

I agree. I loved the first part and was excited thinking the second part will be just as cool. I managed to keep some promises but didn't get to help Aurora so everyone there hates me. Now im basically running around doing the side quests that i didn't finish earlier. I think the only difference between being a normal hero and the King is that people bow to you. I haven't been able to throw anyone in jail yet.

Im so ****ed i spent 60 bucks on this game the day it came out and waisted 10 hours of my life for that stupid ending. WHAT HAPPENED TO FABLE?!?!?! I felt less important as a king that when i was a rebel. why couldn't i control an army or set up bases or build towns. i could go on and on. but all i did was make some stupid decisions?i should of just waited to rent from gamefly then i wouldn't of cared so much, but i actually invested more than money, and i was soooooo exited. this was truly a disappointment, i doubt any DLC could fix it. they would have to completely redo the game from scratch, i hope lionhead takes some serious suggestions for fable 4. all i can say "WAS THAT IT?" ok so i own a home but i cant buld one, i can own a kingdom but cant build on it. i would loved to of had more control, and customization like i was expecting. it felt like a downgrade from Fable 2. I sill liked playing it but it felt like it was still in its testing stages and they really didn't know what to do "halfway thru the game" if they really need a talented, motivated, creative guy to help them figure things out. call me up, cuz some one needs to. they got payed way to much to dish out this crap. it felt like a "went straight to DVD" thing. so mad.

I was so excited for Fable III. However, it seems to have flopped it terms of reviews and from the reactions of other forums. I'm quite disappointed, and I don't think I'll be picking it up on Friday.

I am really glad other people are as frustrated and as disappointed as I am.

I am still in shock on how quickly the game ended. I actually think the credits lasted longer than the "final battle." And please tell me other people were blind sided by the one year mark. I had been saving up my gold in the sanctuary in order to reach the gold key and planned on depositing it into the treasury a few days before the big battle, but it jumps 129 days all the way to zero hour without even a warning! I only had a little over 200,000 gold in the treasury so needless to say everyone hates me now. I still can't believe it. I mean I had over 4 mil in my sanctuary saved up!

It took me about 24ish hrs to play through, most of the time just building up funds. I was seriously not impressed with how it felt starting out. I kept thinking how it was so much different from Fable 2, which I thoroughly enjoyed mind you. It felt like a watered down version of its predecessor.

I think that's enough of a rant for now. I'm going to try and sleep off what just happened. And again, I'm glad I'm not alone on this.

All I did was kept my expectations low and it payed off its not a amazing game but I do love it to bits at the moment if you do adventuring and side quests instead of rushing you will find the experience far more enjoyable, but I think we all agree Lionhead need to sort out the endings of games because Fable 2's ending was horrible as in it really didnt matter, and as you say Fable 3's was horrible aswell. I would love to have lionhead work another month on it so the ending could be a real ending.

You don't get what were saying, its how the games is, not because somebody rushed, thats not the point, its jsut how the story played out that all

The reason it played out like it did is maybe because it was rushed
