I guess I felt the same way with metal gear solid 4, the beginning was great. Then it just turned into a boring game filled with watching and less playing. So, all I can say for you people is be more patient from now on instead of going out to spend $60 for these games. A lot of these companies aren't hell bent on making games good or worthy of anything. Look how long its taking Square Enix to bring out Final Fantasy Versus XIII. There is a chance of that game being ten times bigger and better than the other they released not to long ago. I'm just curious to how Peter is going to react to all of this. He put down the second game like it was a pile of garbage, called it rubbish and everything else. Then turns out that Fable III is the game that's rubbish. Personally I did like the first Fable game because it was different. Then fable II had the chance to expand on that and it didn't...Peter spent a lot of time talking about being a KIng for Fable III, yet they took their time showing hardly anything on the game. Even the commercial they keep showing for it is over-rated and hyped up to make you want the game. I'm glad I didn't go out and get it the first day like I did with the second game. It may take awhile before we see a Fable 4 but even then he's just going to do the same ****. Bad mouth Fable III and promise you how great the fourth title will be. Then the fourth is going to be 6 hours short and lack even more stuff in it to the point where people are going to be saying "Fable III is a much better game".

I think you all set your hopes too high by listening to PM blab on and on about how good the game is. I didn't have high hopes like building towns (As if.) or setting up bases. I absolutely loved the game and everything about it.

So far my biggest pet peeves are that they took out the interaction/conversation wheel (All I get is a good action, or an evil action, I don't want to frickin dance with everyone just to make friends, it gets old!) And I hate how you buy items. You can't just talk to the shop owner and see a list of items, especially when it comes to buying gifts. Which then again you can't give gifts unless they ask for that specific item.

I dont even play a lot of vid games and im not really into the whole internet forum chat thing but i joined this forum just to rant about fable 3. I loved the first 2 games and it honestly turned me into a fable geek i unno why i jus love the story and stuff. Fable 3 had so much potential it cud have been game of the year cud have been best game ever honestly. They half assed it for the money if they waited one more year to put in all the cool rpg stuff (and a cool boss ending battle) it would have been amazing and I would frequently ignore my gf to play this game lol. A battle with logan would have probabaly made up for the sh*tty fight to get to the castle but noo he just gives up. The king part of the game cud have been godly but no they just made it choices. The game seemed so half assed and incomplete probably cuz they spent a fortune on the famous voice cast. Characters were cool but there was no real interaction with them except maybe walter. Holding hands with grown men to get them to follow you is just gay expression wheel was greatly missed its annoying to try and make friends in the game, who would really travel miles to get some stupid letter to someone just to become their friend sounds more like their using you. King part sucked could have been a million times better. I wanted to kill Reaver, Logan (in an epic fight) and at one point Paige becuz of her stupidity during the king part. Sabine was an OG i wish he was included more in the game. Your dog is almost useless in this game u dont get attached to him lik in F2 oakfeild and bloodstone are gone wtf, Making money is extremely limited real estate is pretty much the only way to make money. I have no idea when sales are on? Almost no items to buy or sell. Barely any clothes. Dyes suck, i could go on for a long time. I dont like being lied too btw and PM seems to boost way too much. Huuge dissapointment i know its only a game but the fables are pretty much the only vid games i ever play. This game felt like getting blue balls it cud have been amazing but it was only a tease of amazing.

A few changes I would have liked to see changed, and caused a major disappointment for me:

NPC INTERACTIONS
Gifts - I cannot give gifts to villagers anymore like before. I should be able to gift like in Fable 2 if I chose to.

Expressions - I think its an interesting change to include a generic "good" and "bad" expressions, but that was the same in Fable 2. The only difference was in Fable 2 we were able to either use the generic expressions via the D-Pad, or you could choose one of your own from the expression wheel. I would have expected the same from Fable 3. Some have expressed their distaste in certain expressions, or how it didn't fit for their character, but they have only a single good or evil choice. I would like to see an expression wheel brought back in a patch.

AoE Expressions - In Fable 2, using an expression in front of a crowd caused everyone to benefit (or not) from your expressions. Playing a lute in front of a crowd well caused everyone listening to gain happiness from it. Performing a rude gesture to a crowd caused the entire crowd to be displeased. Fable 3 only allows 1 NPC to change opinion now, when it should continue to attract crowds. If I stand in the town square wearing nothing, and giving everyone the middle finger, the entire city that can see me should react accordingly, not simply the single person I have targeted.

DOG
Behavior - Several times PM said that the dog would not be as obedient as in Fable 2, and mentioned that it might chase rabbits/etc. I did not personally see this, even when testing it. Was this included?
Behavior (optional) - My personal idea when PM mentioned a non obedient dog was that I might have to spend a little time training my dog. It might not find dig spots every time, and I would need to pet or punish the dog to encourage or discourage behavior that I wanted/didn't. This is an optional change I was expecting and was let down that it was not what the designers had in mind.

SANCTUARY
Quests - I spent 12 hours with a friend trying to figure out how to view my active quests. I had a relationship quest active and didn't want to do it. Eventually I found that it was part of the map, and that was fine, but I would have liked to see this mentioned in the tutorial when the map was being explained.

Food - I don't like the fact that I can't choose when to eat anymore. Fable 2 I could go through the (clumsy) menu system and select a certain food, now I'm left at pure chance and can only eat when I am in combat. For those that have both Crunchy Chicks and Holy Tofu, for example, and need to be healed, they have a 50-50 chance of eating either. For the person that wouldn't conscientiously eat one or the other, it requires very frequent trips to a pawn broker to sell off unwanted foods. Not being able to eat out of combat is also a problem.
EDIT: I was mistaken for food CHOICE. When you acquire a new type of food, you can select it as your food "stash." It will constantly draw upon this when you are injured. My apologies. Unable to manually select food, change foods short of acquiring new/more food, and being unable to eat out of combat stands.

New Items - I'm not sure if this was a Lionhead decision, or more likely it was a Microsoft call, but having the butler constantly remind me every time I visit the Sanctuary that there is a Dog costume for sale for Microsoft Points is incredibly annoying. Once I visit the cross-dimensional room with the new items once, the message should go away. Remind me once every week (real time) if you like, but I don't want to be bothered to spend additional money for every new outfit. I can imagine this could careen out of control.

QUESTS
Glowing trail - I understand that the Glowing trail has always been a part of Fable. That said, I'm one of the players that have never used it. I shouldn't be able to immediately know where everything is, and magically have GPS devices on everyone. Fable 2 not using it was great. Yes, there was a headache or two, but 90% of the time it was fine, and it should be. Not all quests should be clear and obvious. Fable 3 takes that to a whole new level of insanity though. Try attempting one of the relationship quests where you have to dig up an item. "Well, I think its somewhere in Mistlake Valley..." The zones are so huge and expansive (nice!) and the dog sometimes passes up the objects, that it could take hours for a single item. Finding the rebel headquarters was also insane.

Relationship quests- I can understand that building rapport with villagers might require a quest, but for the person that wants everyone to be a friend (Not lover), I don't see the necessity to have a quest for Friend, Best Friend, then Lover. A "Best friend" quest for 25% of NPCs isn't such a bad idea, and its fine to leave a Lover quest 100% of the time. But there's far too many NPCs to make friends with everyone with the quests the way they are now, and after all, you're a Hero and everyone wants a Hero as a friend.

REFERENCES
Fable 2 has always had a strong comical side of it. I think most people here would agree that generally the comic relief is welcome. However, I noticed a few things in Fable 3 that were not comical, nor added to the game play at all, yet had implications that were not necessarily true. Note that while side quests are one thing, the following two are part of the main quest and MUST be completed, like it or not.

"The Ends Justify The Means" - which is a referance to Saul Alinky's "Rules for Radicals" book. I do not see how that helped or added to the game, and in my opinion, was used in poor taste.

The bailouts - At one point you are asked to bail out the economy, specifically the financial institutions. The choices are a) Bail them out and the economy prospers, or b) do nothing and it tanks. The fact remains that there isn't a single bank in the game. Gold is kept in chests, in the treasury, or in the Sanctuary. Its assumed that each NPC carries a little on their person, but without even a SINGLE bank in game, its simply a money dump.

Generally, so far I've had a lot of fun playing Fable 3. The weapon upgrades are a neat idea, the Sanctuary is a welcome addition. The combat feels more responsive, and the AI is much more aggressive. But due to some of the issues listed above, Fable 3 hasn't fallen into one of those "I can't put it down" games where you look at the clock and realize you've been there 6 hours when it felt like 40 minutes.

The entire map system sucked. Granted Fable titles have always had bad maps because someone up the chain in development is convinced that "dotted yellow line" is good enough. Although in a great number of situations it goes crazy, or is not help. A few times now I've spent 10 minutes wandering around the wilderness when I wanted to visit a family because I get thrown out in the middle of nowhere and aren't on a quest. And without a proper accurate map its' hopeless unless I know where I want to go.

My second disappointment is my own fault. I specifically didn't read anything about Fable 3, except a week ago where I saw some trailers and read up on some game play stuff. My immediate thoughts were "Sweet, you get to lead a revolution like the colonies did against Great Britain then fight against that same country as they try to bribe, assault, and otherwise ruin your monarchy to get power back. I hate myself for watching those trailers because what I thought the game was going to be like is 100x more badass then what actually happens. Which is *SPOILERS* you do some quests, have a great big battle against in retaking the city then have a dozen or so turns to pass a gold check before mysterious shadow people assault you.

Overall it just felt short even with side-quests and there weren't even big changes or surprises like in Fable 2 where at least you got a handful of choices that made a difference while not being linked to pure good or evil mentalities. Plus it seemed like I stumbled upon way more extra stuff within the second game, such as quests that inserted awesome characters or were actual entire areas without it just being point A to B. Also surprising was that the Fable 2 quest/map system sucked a whole lot less in comparison to Fable 3 (and it really sucked).

It was a enjoyable 10 hours. The beginning was like woah tough choice so soon hope the game will be like this till the end. Start was great then i faced Logan the battle was not to long but then i was king which lasts about an hour which annoyed me. You make good decisions people die you make bad decisions and put money in treasury you are hated but people live or you work your arse off for somewhat 60 million gold. The ending was somewhat heroic.

When i think of Fable i think fairytale and myths. Fable 1 big monsters and when your evil you look it and you age as you level its like the character was always with me. The environment was worth exploring but with Fable 3 all i did was do the main quests. My memory is short of Fable 1 but it was memorizing only a few games get stuck in my head.

Updated my list, and made a couple changes. I initially would like to add several additional quests I feel are out of place in a Fable world, but until I play both sides, I'm going to hold off on passing judgment prematurely.

listen you cant just sit there and expect every game to be good especially if their making sequels to it.
they have to get rid of certain things to put in certain things
and anyways if it was like the last game you would all probably be complaining that it was like the last game
if you just gonna complain about it why not just sell it on eBay or something instead of dedicating an entire forum post to complaining
me and my sis love it and weve been playin for 2 days and were barely threw the beginning
were doing side quest making friends and best friends earning money for houses and renting them out hunting down all the gnomes and gaining all the cities love and finding things to kill to earn guild seals
if you run threw a game then ya its gonna be a bit disappointing but if you just have fun with it its fun and kinda awesome
ive loved all the fables and fable 3 isn't worse its just different and i still love it but maybe that's because i know how to enjoy a game

I think the idea is that Fable 2 was a well liked, and highly awarded game. If the Fable franchise wasn't as great as it has been, these forums would be dead, and Fable 3 wouldn't have a crowd anxiously awaiting its release. Fable 2 brought many welcome changes, and they worked great! Why fix something that isn't broken? I think a lot of people here share some of those concerns. While its great that you and our sister enjoyed it entirely, there's also a crowd that was let down by some of the changes. Overall I enjoyed the game, and many of the changes I described can be added via patches, or in addition to the current content, without destroying it for players that enjoy it as it stands, like yourself.

Its a much better idea to include extra choices that people don't use than not to have the option at all. Choices, after all, are what made Fable such an excellent game.

If you are all so disapointed like I am aswell, I think we should join together and email lionhead as a group. The more complaints the more the chance they'll change things. I'm ****ed that coop you can't do any touch or any split mission playing. The story was short def. And barely any power as king. So if you all want it changed work together. I'm sure if they feel they're losing customers they'll make some changes when they update for kinect. So your best bet is to contact them. I'm personally going to about a few things but i don't think it'll change if it's only one person.
