Once I start seeing cars in Fable, thats when i stop playing Fable, I like the time period we're at now, any further its just going to feel odd, at least for me. Honestly when i think of the word fable the first thing that comes to mind is: Dragons, followed closely by swords & Magic.

once swords become obsolete and there are cars everywhere, fable will fail.

honestly, fable 3 is too futuristic for my tastes. i still like the original fable the best.

screw guns, give me my bows back.

Yeah I want a large variety of big, mean and nasties to kill and even this 'industrial' bull-**** is pushing it

I still hold to the theory that they dodge having to remaster and touch up monster models by giving the excuse that they are extinced

Not likely all they care about is lining their pockets I mean there is seriously nothing new in Fable III I mean you can litterally feel the laziness as you play through it

I agree with this, if they do try and pump out a 4/5 it better be one of THE best games I've ever played. 3 was just a bunch of LAZY. I had fun playing it, but it was FAR below the levels of fun I had with one, and two to a lesser extent.

Details? Well, we know for sure that all Fable games that have currently been planned (i.e. Fable IV and Fable V) will be set later in time than the previous games. Neither game will be a prequel or anything like such.

This isn't 100% certain, but it's highly likely that you will play as yet another (and another in Fable V) descendant of William Black's bloodline, as so far all the Heroes have been.
I actually heard (but don' have the link) the creative designer of Fable III talk about the idea of Fable IV being set in the days of the old kingdom.

The thread continues...like magic!

From what I've heard about any future Fable games, it will most likely be set in the future. Lionhead has confirmed they are unlikely to do anything set in the Old Kingdom and are unlikely to do a prequel of any sort.
That's funny because I heard and watched the creative designer for Fable III say that Fable IV will be set in the old kingdom time period. This is because there is a huge want a marketing field for another Fable game Like Fable I

I don't think so. Lionhead have gone down a road they can't come back from, Crossed the point of no return. With each Fable game that goes by, what makes the game Fable will cease to exist, the magic and wonder that we love will die a little more every time. Not to mention the massive stain of disappointment Lionhead have left on their loyal fans with the past 2 games, You can't exactly rub stains like these right off. The only way they can redeem themselves and save the series in My eyes is to release a prequel set either before the events of Fable 1 or between I and II. To bring back will as it was, to bring back Avo, to bring Skorm, to bring back the Hero's Guild. Obviously they wouldn't be able to call this game Fable IV as it wouldn't really be a sequel, they'd have to call it something like Fable: The Old Kingdom or Fable: The Guild chronicles, something along those lines.

But in My opinion that isn't going to happen, it would be too good to be true. Lionhead are just going to keep pushing it, and pushing it until it goes over the edge and the Fable franchise lands in the seventh circle of Gaming Hell. The Fable dream for Me is over.

The big problem in my eyes is that with Fable 3 we now have a number of features, integral things like the sanctuary and the magic system, which, if Lionhead tries to return to the glory days, will never work. Spellweaving has never been done before, achievements say as much, and the sanctuary (where the hell did that come from???) was something the Hero-King/Queen presumably had built exclusively for him/herself.

And I agree. I don't care what weapons people use nowadays, give me back my crossbow! And my goddamned armour! And my axes, while we're about it! In fact, give me back my epic baddies and my huge monsters, my Augments, my Gods, my rival heroes, my history, my geography, my impressive morphs and my sense of fantasy too!

That's because you can now reach out and 'touch' things in the world now :p

I highly doubt that Fable will ever go the Old Kingdom era as that pretty much just cuts off all ties with Theresa... unless she can travel through time, but even that would be to far fetched for Fable, only one can hope that the new economy of the Industrial Albion collapses and all technology lost, leading into a dark age of sorts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't The Old Kingdom's destruction due to it's technological advancement and how Will was exploited e.g. the original spire. Perhaps I'm incorrect, but I vaguely remember Theresa mentioning this in a cut scene in Fable II.

My point being that another cataclysm in any future Fable games might bring back that less industrialized era that fans seem to long for in a viable way without Lionhead being boxed into further 18th & 19th century style timeframes for Albion.

here is a plot rever gains access to the spire and tries to make a wish for a more post indutral world but you shoot him and stop him midsentance in a cinimatic sort of way the spire reaver dies and the spire is yours to comand you wish the world to be one of heroes and dragons and good and old again solves 2 problems with one stone reavers dead and were not hurtling into a fable theft auto 4 but the only way to stop the world becoming something like today is to kill reaver.

which is bullshit.. they have hundreds of years of history to work with.

Yeah. If Lionhead played their cards right (Which they wont) they could take the Fable series up to something like Fable VIII or even Fable IX I mean think of it. Events before 1, several games there. Events in between 1 and 2, Several games there. And one more game after the events of III. Like these extra games are cleverly thought out and deep in story and lore. These extra games should be awesome!

But hey.. It's Lionhead. PM will over hype his games. We have to deal with it. They will probably only take it to V (what a waste!) and they will either get worse or even improve! (for me III was better than II with I being the best) I think Fable is more of an experiment for Lionhead. Fable I was made without any plans for a future game!

Apparently the policy is to never go back chronologically, which means either somebody abuses the Spire (unlikely, since Theresa would head that off) or Albion suffers some terrible techno-apocalypse, but isn't stopping stuff like that what Heroes are for?

Well I remeber way back on the fourms when we were waiting for fable 2 to come out someone posted a topic about sequals as they said that they read that 2 was gona be 500 or so years after 1 three was going to be a industrial age, 4 would be set in modern times and 5 some point in the future, personnaly I hope this isnt the case >.< but since he hit the nail on the head twice with 2 and 3 who knows,

but the only real thing I want from fable 4 would be some sort of content with the northern wastes even if they dont use old content names and just add new regions into it

Who knows that could be what therisa has bean planning to do all along. That would be cool to me, I mean Therisa uses eveyone she can to her benifit, why not make it benifit all the gamers as well. Although I think a victorian style fable would be really cool, I mean the clothes, and weapons, and stuff would be much cooler.

I would love a technology ice age or something. Like the economy becomes unsustainable or the spire is used and everything gets wiped out... a bit like a "history repeats itself" on William Black or something because the way this is going, new Albion is somewhat taking the same route the old Kingdom took.

I think that fable 4 and 5 will be failures, personally. Fable 1 and 3 were the best. I liked the weapons in the games, but I liked the story line in Fable 1 better. Fable 4 taking place in Victorian times would be bad. Even though the weapons would be better, the story line would not be as well. In Fable 5, the whole story line would collapse and it would take place in the future. Then Fable would suck and I would never play it!

So... you're saying out of what is currently a trilogy... 2 of them were the best? That's like saying "FINAL FANTASY 1-10 WERE THE BEST!"
