I only just remembered that new fable shorts were to be released, reaver, jack and theresa - then was saddened that they're only available via e-book, which according to itunes isnt available in the uk store, but is in the US store. Anyways decided to check lion heads website and a few entries down is http://lionhead.com/first-look-new-fable-novel-coming-to-paperback-ebook-and-audiobook/

for those who dont want to click the link its "Bridging the gap between Fable 3 and Fable: The Journey, Fable: Edge of the World tells the story of our Hero’s struggle as The Darkness returns to Albion."
I dont mind fables books atm, nice wee reads that have some interesting trivia or references to the games. Just thought I'd post here the new book.

So finished Fable: Reaver. Have to say I'm disapointed that it was available only on ebook, and then on itunes us but not uk? I keep saying book, but more like a short. It was relativlty entertaining reaver has his charming moments and it was grand to read, becasue the book was so short the action and overall story development felt extremely rushed, but over all still a good read - especially when you factor in the cost - £0.77, adding some more trivia to the fable world lol.Now when reading the book I came across one or two tidbit, one of which was -

"He picked up a cannon ball and, displaying astounding—nearly supernatural—strength,he flung it with the speed and force of a discus." -

This lined really just raised the question of how much of the will and strength abilities reaver has, but choses to not to use because of his prefrence for firearms? Just seemed interesting.

Also - Ive spoilered this one becasue it includes mabey some of the storyline to the book
“How can this many people look like him?” Dread ranted at one point. “Did he sire an entire town’s worth of offspring?” “Considering the rumors,” said Smiling Jake, “about both his potency and how long he’s been living, I wouldn’t necessarily discount the possibility.”
This line comes when C.Dread is searching for Reaver, and obvioulsy it seems alot of people seem to resemble Reaver, which then begs the question if they are the illigitmate offspring of the man himself, which then go me thinking, would anyone else enjoy a twist or two that turned out that your orphan hero in Fable 2 ended up the child of Reaver?[/spoiler

]Quick review of the book (well the book was quick) thought I'd give my opinion of Ebooks and PC kindle, obviously I needed an e-reader and as I was buying from amazon I used the kindle pc reader, over all im very impressed, I started reading on my desktop (and thus my tv upstairs) then moved to my laptop downstairs, very impressed that you can log in elsewhere with your account and the books will be downloaded to the new place without a problem, and even has the last place you were reading saved, I found it easier to read on my laptop opposed to the TV, that being said I'm still not a fan of reading a book on an e-reader or kindle like device, still prefer to have a physical book I can turn the pages of, but I can see the merits of a kindle, apart from the space saved and the easy access you have to your library its very convent to make notes and comments on passages words etc, I personally prefer a book, but at least can see some other merits to e-books/readers.

It appears I cant code the spoiler button sorry lol

Just finished the jack of blades (work the week end and didnt have time until today to read any more of the ebooks)

have to say the book started out okay, not great, seemed to be a little disappointing and I was unimpressed for a bit, but the book took a turn for me and actually enjoyed it , with a good lock of questions coming into light XD. Only the thersea one to read, going to give it a whirl now, not bad for £0.77 if anyone else wants to read them.

*May contain spoilers....again*

So reading the Theresa e-book was an enjoyable experience, again as with previous one it was short, but was a fun read and good to be back in the Albion word. The book is set a few hundred years after Fable 1, as Theresa says on afew occasions about her age and how she's lived hundred of years, however she is still part of the material world, and as we find out requires a "hero" for protection (a far cry from here seeming invulnerability in F2 and her spirit like aurora.....but the journey she gets hurt by the darkness or something so maybe I'm off on a tangent here).
In the book we learn about how she's honed her other senses to be able to "see" the world around her, and also her ability to physically smell a hero and whether they chose a path of righteousness (fresh smell) or that of an unaligned hero (scent of brimstone). She quips to herself "How does one explain the notion of perceiving the world through sheer willpower", this really only adds to what fans already had known about here extremely developed power of will, but good to have more confirmation.
When it comes to her explaining how one of her other abilities works, that is - her visions of the future, she says "the future is in flux, but if a vision is triggered, it will be set." this tells us that time in the Fable world is fluid, with many alternatives in "flux" at any one time, and that Theresa herself doesnt exactly know what is going to unfold - if a vision is triggered - refers to the fact that if an individual touches her and a vision is experienced (it seems that something will always happen if you physically touch her, either a vision or she instantly knows all your thoughts and experiences), that vision is then set in stone and is the one that unfolds.
Additionally something that caught my fancy and maybe some here, whilst having a conversation she replies rather cryptically which the recipient questions, Thersea replies with “No, I should beg your pardon. Sometimes I’m unnecessarily cryptic. It’s becoming a habit with me. I should watch that.”
- This raises some questions, perhaps here cryptic nature just developed over the course of time, perhaps she only interacts with people when absolutely necessary, so perhaps when cryptic in the games we play maybe not all of it is intentional - she later reveals that she does like being cryptic when it suits her so not completely accidental, but some of it is.

Now for a super spoilery paragraph lol - At the end of the book we effectively have Theresa sacrificing one life for another, either directly or indirectly, but at this points she questions how or if she has the right to dangle peoples lifes and chose who is to live or not etc, indicating that this could have been her first experience with such responsibility, as she says herself "perpetrated a great evil". She then acknowledges " The scales must be balanced. And I cannot help but feel that I have set matters into motion that will lead to my own end."
She thinks that taking one heros life can only be evened by the end of her own?

The fable shorts overall in my opinion give us enough insight to some of the fable characters and gives us enough information while raising new questions to get the community talking about.

With the release of 2 books, 3 e-books and a 3rd full book being released soon, perhaps we should have a dedicated sub-forum for official Fable Literature :p

The stories weren't long enough to be an actual book sadly, only about 30-40 pages each. i downloaded them onto my computer cause apparently, you can download an ebook reader from barnes and noble and buy e books and read them on your computer... I was very happy about this.

As for the content of the books i gotta say i loved them, especially Theresa's story, it gave me hope that we can see more Heroes pop up in Albion. I actually wrote a bit on that in the Fable 4 forum, if you want to read it ill post the link below.

I dont know about more heros in fable 4 - obv we have to have one for the story, but the theresa story was set well before F3 and event at this point in time the idea of looking for a hero was laughable by the village, but I'd like to see it. I downloaded the ebbok reader from amazon - totally free aswell, onto my desktop and laptop - was pleased I could do this also - but as explained in one of those above posts I prefer my reading old school XD lol

Are these E-Books Cannon.. Are they actually part of the Fable universe?
I have only Read "The Balverine Order" by Peter David and it was amazing. I Plan on getting Golden's book to read whilst on vacation.. I can't wait.
I'd only read these E-books if they are Cannon.

But, these heroes of will, strangth and skill in Balverine order don't seem to fit properly.. Plus, all this about the Balverine Order infiltrating the elite to turn back industrialed urbanism certainly does not fit since they side with Reaver (who "is industry"), thus implying quite the opposite :S I do plan on reading all fable books and simply ignore the odd inconsistancy.. Though, there's no harm in asking.

I've a feeling Lionhead doesn't check through whatever Peter David writes in the stories before giving them the clear. Explains why the novels don't make sense sometimes...

Hey, I can write a Fable book too. Excerpt:

50 Shades of Silver (Keys) said:
...And there Theresa stood, Thunder shedding his golden armour, ready to take the Seeress' cosmic embrace, running his fingers across the creases of her robe, Theresa sensing his leviathan presence as a rabbit would look upon the Lion that leads the pride. Beads of sweat glistening from Thunder's chest like the sun on Bower Lake...

Yes, I have a problem.

Ahhh... brings back memories of when I wrote a Fable novel (or tried too, at least).

Never knew Thunder was around when Bower Lake was named Bower Lake... :p
