The Walking Dead has returned for Season 3 and is as kickass as ever, so who else has been watching? Certainly started at a fast pace I have to say, plenty of action in 2 episodes thats for damn sure. Some interesting new characters too (I havent read the comics so no spoilers)...

Yea I've been watching, like you I haven't read the comics so I'm interested to see where this season pans out. Like the prison environment.

I've been watching too, and it's been great. (Season 3 spoilers) I really like how Daryl has become Rick's right hand man and that they can practically communicate through looks to each other. It's also interesting that Rick is much less soft than he used to be (not that he was super soft before). I think I liked his previous neutrality and democratic ways better, but the way he is now can help with certain situations, like when he killed the prisoner who threw the walker at him. After that incident, when he and Rick were just staring at each other, I was just thinking, "Kill him! Kill him! Kill him!" And I was so satisfied when he did. I love that he did that, and I'm not sure the old Rick would have done it, at least not right away like that. It's unfortunate that that's sort of taken a toll on his relationship with Lori though, and I feel bad for her. I've heard that part of the reason their relationship seems to be crumbling is because Rick's starting to realize that the baby is Shane's, but I want to know why he thinks that. There's a 50/50 shot it's his; what makes him think it's not? Also, who else was completely taken by surprise when Hershel got bit? I was totally convinced he would survive, but I didn't think of the possibility of amputation when he first got bit, so when it happened, my first though was, "Holy sh*t, they're going to find a cure?!" It's looking like he'll survive at this point, but if he actually ends up dying, I'm going to be so ****ed. He actually might have turned into my favorite character. It used to be Dale, who I found to be an utterly inspirational champion of morality who I'd give my left nut to have as a grandfather. I got my heart torn out when he died back in season 2. Glenn was always my second favorite, so he kind of became my favorite when Dale died, but he's become sort of boring. I want to say it's Maggie that's making him boring because she causes him not to do quite so much dangerous stuff like he used to, but I still liked him a lot at the end of season 2, and I like them as a couple. I'm not sure what it is that's made him boring. I'm hoping he turns back into his old self again. But anyway, I've always thought Hershel was interesting, but I've really come to like him in these last two episodes. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's partially because it's interesting to see him out of his element. Also, as a final side note, I love that Carl has started to mature and actually become a useful part of the team. (End of spoilers)

By the way, I haven't read the comics either, but just remember that even if someone spoils something for you by telling you what happens in the comics, it might not happen the same way in the show, or it might not happen at all. After all, Shane never even made it to Hershel's farm in the comics. He died before that, and I'm pretty sure Carl's the one who killed him instead of Rick, though Rick later went back to his grave, dug up zombie Shane, and then killed him.

Watched the first two series' in three days and was so excited for the new one. So far I've enjoyed and can't wait to see how things pan out. Glad I haven't read the comics, leaves more mystery I guess.

Didn't catch the profile comment, Andy?

But yeah, I've been watching it and caught the latest episode the other day. The last season I thought was a bit of a drag, like there was too much of what felt like filler with events and interactions that either didn't progress the story or help develop a character.. just ya know, boring. Until it hit towards the end with the big shocking twist and all that, that was great.

But the current season now has been really enjoyable so far, really good pacing, my favorite character still remains as Daryl, but the shift in attitude for Rick has been pretty interesting. But speaking of Daryl, has anything been mentioned about his brother Merle since season 1? Because I'm hoping his character wasn't just forgotten about.

Season 3 Spoiler: This is something that's bugging me, towards the end of episode 2 we see Carol messing around with that walker and there's someone spying on her.. now I can't possibly believe that the writers would kill her off in such an unimaginative way at the rate they've been going. But it did sound like a walker growling, so my only two guesses for the scenario is that someone finally has the sense to ask "Where's Carol?" and they go out and get her, or maybe someone else does that happens to be in the area (who that may be.. I have no idea).

Season 2, Daryl hallucinates about Merle.

I don't think they'll just totally forget about Merle, they've got something planned for him I bet

I didnt see any profile comment no.

Merle was seen in a teaser trailer for season 3 with a blade attached to his cut off hand from what I remember.

Like Necro im liking that Rick is changing and is starting to mirror Shanes attitude and seems to finally have realised the world and rules have changed and hes got to do what it takes to survive. However... (Spoiler) It also shows that Rick does still show feelings for people as he didnt kill the guy that got scratched without thought (unlike his fellow prisioner). Also I think Shane may have killed Hershel rather than the quick thinking that Rick did to save him. However he also shows he will kill when threatened as he killed 2 of the prisioners.(spoiler end)

Season 3 has upped the kill count and action thats for damn sure. I dont think it was a walker watching Carol to be honest.

Yea, Merle has been confirmed as returning in season 3. What I'm really hoping for is a return of Morgan, the black guy from the very first episode. I don't know what it is about that character, but I really liked him, and I'd give my left nut to see him again. I think a lot of it has to do with the actor who plays him, who I also really like.

I'm with Drakan on this. I don't think it was a walker watching her. It would have gotten closer and tried to eat her right as it saw her if that was the case. Walkers don't just hide in the bushes and watch a living organism from afar.

I wouldn't say I'm liking Rick's internal changes. Sometimes it can be beneficial, but overall, I think he's better in season 2.

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. Shane killing Hershel? (End of spoilers)

Oh yeah, I forgot that had happened. Hopefully what they have planned will be big things, this show could do with an established bad guy to help balance things out.

Link. Doesn't really matter though, just a question about the show.

Okay, now that I did not know about. I didn't catch the teaser and usually never watch the next episode previews, but this definitely makes me happy. I expect to see some very entertaining interactions with him back, especially with the token black guy T-Dog for some unfinished business (who I might add I'm amazed has lasted this long given how poorly he's been portrayed). But due to how he was left behind in the first season I'm sure he'll try and get Daryl on his side, but given all he's been through I doubt Daryl will oblige.. least I hope not.

I could've sworn I heard zombie growling when that happened, unless it was happening elsewhere in the area and my mind is just playing tricks on me. But you're right, stalking or sneaking isn't something the walkers do, so yeah.

Yeah, I liked him better in Season 1/2. I like the new attitude of him being more serious and not taking chances anymore, it's good, but at the same time he seems more domineering and not in a good way. It's not to the degree of Shane, but to the point where it makes me go "Ehh..." Like, it just doesn't suit him entirely. "We're all very grateful for what you did, Lori." I was like ".. really?" Even though I don't like her, it made him look like a bit of a dick. But I imagine he'll start to lighten up eventually, at least towards Lori maybe given how the last ep ended (well, if she continues to do her part around there).

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. Shane killing Hershel? (End of spoilers)

Was referring more to the comparision between (spoiler) how Ricks attitude is more ruthless like Shane but if it was Shane in Ricks predicament I think he would have simply killed Hershel rather than cutting his leg off and hoping he would have been fast enough to stop the infection spreading or Hershel dying and turning while with them. Whereas Rick does act fast and try and make sure he survives and doesnt turn because he cares for Hershel. Obviously Shane is dead but it was a just a comparision between how Rick is seemingly acting more like him in Season 3.(spoiler end)

Ok so I've had to scroll down super fast to not see anything that spoils anything for me here because we got the first series of this show the other day (watched the WHOLE thing at once) and I've not seen series 2 yet, let alone anything more.

But I love it - totally did not expect to be interested but to me, it's what Lost should have been: no one asking the wrong questions, no one being really dumb (like when Jim got bitten and the woman who found out immediately yelled it out rather than "keeping it a secret" which is what would have happened on any other show) and there's not so many characters that you can't keep up with them all and have lots of tedious back-story to get through. Ok, so Lost isn't zombies and shizzle but I know what I mean.

Gonna get series 2 nearer to Christmas if only because of the almost £30 price tag and when series 3 finally gets to DVD, we'll definitely be getting that too. I know everyone probably already knows then answer, but I'm enjoying guessing what Jenner said to Rick in the CDC before Rick left - I'm not googling it either because I want to see if I'm right later on in the show, if it ever comes out with it. I reckon he's said that everyone has got the disease that makes them zombies but it takes something to trigger it. Prolly completely wrong but it's better than something lame like "so and so has got this or that illness" or "so and so is pregnant".

So many people I know arent into Zombie movies or the genre at all but love The Walking Dead and it gets better and better as it goes on.

Ah, alright, I get what you're saying now. Yea, Rick is acting more like Shane, but like Gikoku said, it's not quite to the degree of Shane. I don't think Shane would have killed Hershel though, at least not if he was in Rick's exact position. Hershel is needed for the baby after all. However, if that wasn't a factor, I wouldn't be surprised by Shane just killing Hershel.

To an extent I agree...

(Spoilers) If Shane had been that convinced it was his baby I agree but if somehow it came out it was Ricks I think he would have done what he could to sever that tie. I mean he was close to killing his best friend to get the Lori so I think he was capable of pretty much anything. Rick hasnt gone that far yet but hes in a dark place between his old self and Shanes him vs the world attitude, every now and again you see that dark side come out when his fight or flight survival mode kicks in. I think some of Shanes words actually had an effect on Ricks attitude and maybe Rick finally now knows that its him or them and hes willing to do what it takes to survive. (spoilers)

Im interested to see how it pans out with...

(Spoiler) Merle and The Governer, I mean Merle seems a different person in one way. Less hate filled and less racist, Hes still pretty bad as we see with him thinking nothing of helping The Governer kill all those soldiers but he seems to show genuine remorse when he hears about Amys death and is rather sympathetic towards Andrea. Maybe its because he understands her loss as he has a sibling too but he also seems to be happy to take orders which you would never have thought before. (spoiler)

Well his original attitude was what led up to that point, so he's probably getting savvy and deciding not to **** off everybody in his current group. It's either an actual change and he's been humbled from what happened, or he's gotten smarter and is just keeping all the racism and hatred to himself. Either way it'll be an interesting change of character.

Im looking forward to seeing how it pans out because he seems a little to nice currently (excluding certain incidents I mentioned in that post). Going to watch the latest episode online later because being in the UK and trying to avoid spoilers for 5 days is a pain in the ass.

Yea, episodes are always really easy to find online, but do they really air the following Friday in the UK?

Yeah they do I've been downloading them or watching them on watchseries.eu though to save time plus I have no where near enough patience to wait for Dexter & Walking dead.

Yeah its a pain, do they not realise in this day and age how hard it is to avoid spoilers? 1 Min after the episode finishes in US Twitter and Facebook is full of them for a start, so I record them in UK to watch at later date (back to back when season finishes) but watch them online first.
