Well with this generation of gaming wrapping up, what were some moments in gaming that really struck a cord?

Off the top of my head, I'd say the ending to Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Also, many moments in Mass Effect 3. Too many to count or list. That's all I've got for now. Might be back with more later

The ending of the Mass Effect franchise.

Almost so bad it is good.

Almost.

  • The ending of Red Dead, I tried so many times to try for a different outcome but alas it was not to be.:'(
  • The ending of The Walking Dead Season 1 I thought was great too.
  • Most of the Bioshock endings have caught me by surprise even though I learnt after the first to expect the unexpected they still manage to get me.
  • The Darkness (original) when Jenny is murdered in front of you.
  • Ending of Halo Reach when you fight to your dying breath.
  • Mass Effect 2 endgame.
  • Old but only played it in last 2 years (KoTOR) with the Revan reveal.
  • Scarecrows fear gas in Arkham Asylum.
  • No Russian MW2.
  • End credits to Portal 1 and 2.
  • Coming out of the Vault/Dungeon/City in Fallout, Oblivion and Skyrim.
  • Blowing up Megaton Fallout 3.

hmmmm, yes. You know what would be cool in Fable Anniversary? If when you get the sword of Aeons and Jack's mask you walk out of Archon's folly to fight Scythe, to the death.

Mass Effect 2 endgame.

Oh god, yes. How could I have forgotten that?

Mass Effect 3 Mordin's death

That was definitely one of the most significant parts of the game. I think Thane's death hit me a little harder though.

The ending of the Mass Effect franchise.

Almost so bad it is good.

Almost.

Forgive me for asking, but why exactly did everyone hate the ending so much? I'm just curious because I started playing the Mass Effect series after #3 had already been out for a while, so I wasn't part of the massive uproar about its ending. Also, what was the ending like without the extended cut? I only played it with the extended cut.

While ME was a great big moment in itself, this...
Mass Effect 3 Mordin's death

was the cause of many feels. Only thing comparable was perhaps stuff that happened to LEGION...
Ah, Mass Effect, you were so great (played Leviathan like a week ago. I have mixed feelings).

What else....

I didn't think the endings were so bad, though I'm a follower of the indoctrination theory.
The main issue, as far as I know, wasn't that they were so bad story-wise, but from a gameplay point of view. You complete three epic games by constantly making decisions and being Shepard - the guy who talks/fights his way out of everything. But in the end everything you do has very little effect, because you're simply given three (four) set-to-stone options to choose from. I think this lack of previous impact was what drove people mad, though I can't say for sure. Don't really remember the exact reasons.

... so the else.
Actually Bulletstorm had many great moments and, as funny it is for a game like this, they were all tied to the game's visuals. I wish they made some other games in a setting like this. Simply stunning.

I also like to take the Me3 ending as indoctrination but Bioware said nope. Bulletstorm is AMAZINGBALLS I'm superdepressed they said no to a sequel I love that game bought it on 360 & PS3. While storywise its godawful the characters and gameplay make me love it as much as Gears2 campaign if not more. I basically just want more stuff set in this universe with more crazy guns and it would be awesoem for a sequel with co-op with Triska and Grayson.
