Well, on the one hand I was joking. Saying that I reserve the right to deny, deny, deny the stupid **** BioWare pulls.

Secondly, saying that the endings were canon is a bit different from saying specifically "yep, if you see quarians without masks again they will definitely look like poorly photoshopped purple people."

Where does it say that? Because that's suicide if it's true. The Extended Cut rewrote the original endings quite extensively, and if they back out and say, "Lol, just kidding" they will lose A LOT of business.

No they didn't. The Extended Cut endings simply told us to take the endings at face value.
With the "DLC" I did mean the Extended Cut if that's what's causing the confusion.

Again, source on this quote or I don't believe it. Because if you download the extended cut you no longer have access to the original endings, and if you try and delete it after watching it you can't play that save file anymore.

I'm 100% certain that the endings are canon.

I actually don't understand what you're saying. The Extended Cut didn't rewrite anything, it only elaborated on the Destruction/Control/Synthesis endings and added the Deny one.

Spoilers, just in case:
I mean it showed how the team got off world (when they were flying in space) and that Shepard actually did Control the Reapers or that the Synthesis did happen and everyone were living happily ever after with green glowing eyes.

Or am I missing something?

I admit, Tyloric, I'm not sure what you're talking about either. Particularly since I only finished the game after the extended cut came out... Care to elaborate on what you're saying?

In the original ending, the mass relays were completely and totally obliterated and, depending on which ending you chose, technology itself was destroyed with them. This effectively cut off all parts of the galaxy from one another.

In the Extended Cut this was changed. The mass relays were instead severely damaged, not destroyed, and because all technology was left more or less unaffected civilization eventually recovered.

After watching the Destroy ending again, I can say you are right. This only affects the Destroy ending, though, since with Reaper knowledge Shepard and all the species could've rebuilt the relays anyway (if they were Reaper inventions, but I guess this is another discussion).


The only explanation I could think for this is that they wanted to give each ending similar value. Since Destroy was generally considered the only "positive" ending (and not because of the Indoctrination theory), they couldn't simply make a 180 turn and make it the only ending where galaxy doesn't prosper after merging with/controlling the Reapers.
Actually I just read that in the EC low EMS Destroy ending, the relays are completely destroyed, and with high EMS they aren't, which means they simply added that bit and rewarded the player for doing good in all endings. The breath scene is not included in EC.

I couldn't find a quote, but users at Bioware forums agreed it is canon and all ME editions released after EC came out will include it.

So your argument is that if they decide that the extended cut IS canon and the mass relays WEREN'T destroyed, they'll be crushed by a tidal wave of enraged fans?

The most baffling thing to me is that it looks very amateur. How can a big company like Bioware not only let something like this through, but also c**p on the legacy that was the original trilogy.

Bioware have gone through many changes over the years with all the founders retiring & the EA acquisition. Seems to be having an effect on the quality of their work currently.
