Hello, my name is Kjeld.

I have been playing fable since I was a kid with the first game, and it left a really big impression on me. I love these games. I don't play on Xbox or pc too often, since most of the stuff I like is on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles, but I always return for fable. Fable 2 was my console seller back in the day.

After fable 3 with fable the journey, legends and the closing of lionhead I kind of purposefully avoided the series. It always left a really sour taste in my mouth with how this series that I loved so much went out. But last week I heard about the fable 4 rumors/leaks that have been going around this year, and I am back in all the way. I am fully convinced it is coming. I am really excited, and very curious how it is going to be under a new studio. I think a lot is going to change, but I am willing to keep an open mind. I thought the series was super dead until not too long ago.

So yeah, now I am here.

Welcome. Like you I was gutted about the Fable franchise and how it had ended. Unfortunately I felt that since Fable 2 things have been more good then great so maybe in a different company’s hand we can get back to great again. Hopefully Fable 4 will be what we have all been waiting for.

Thank you.

Yeah, I still had a lot fun with fable 3. Like every fable game it had that charm, which has always been the main appeal for me. But I can absolutely see it's flaws, and when you become king/queen it did kind of lose me as well. Fable 2 I loved tho. There are things I prefer from the first game, but it also had improvements. It is at least equal to the first game for me. The game feels super janky at times tho.

I am hopefull about fable 4. Like I said, I think change is inevitable, so I am keeping my mind very open. I am just a little worried about them changing the entire tone of the game into something a lot more serious. Which I don't mind to a certain degree, but I do want the humor to always be a big part of fable. I don't think they will go full grim dark, but you never know when a new studio takes over. As far as gameplay goes, I am not worried at all tho. Especially if it really does end up being playground games. If they get the humor and atmosphere right, I could absolutely see fable 4 being the best game in the series yet.

Welcome and good to see people coming in with an open mind and looking forward to the future of the franchise despite the rocky road it has gone down.

Totally agree, glad that people are looking forward to the future now. Fingers crossed that Fable 4 will bring back players of old and new. It will still be a while before the game that Playground Games are working on is confirmed but I will stay optimistic that it is what we are all hoping for. Until then we have a decent mod that the Russian’s are working on for the original Fable and the excellent Fable Anniversary for Xbox X which is a massive update to spend time with.

I am currently playing through the games again for the first time in years. Feels super good. Especially after completely ignoring them all this time.

But yeah, really looking forward to the announcement whenever that is.
And if it really is playground games, worst case scenario, we'll probabely at least get a good RPG out of it with the fable name slapped on top of it, which doesn't sound like the worst thing ever to me. At least balverines, demon doors, hobbes and all that would live on that way, and we'd still get a fun RPG with them in it. But I expect they'll be more respectfull with the series than that. Can't wait either way.

So long as its a solid RPG in its own right and stays faithful to the core of Fable series then I will be happy and so long as its well received by players and reviews well it could relaunch the franchise into peoples minds. Microsoft have been desperate for new IP exclusives but a relaunch of a classic franchise could be just as much of a boost for them.
