Hi all. I recall watching someone else play these games a long long time ago, and I may possibly have played them a bit myself. These days, it's hard to find new games that interest me, so I have to look back at the games of the past to find new stuff to play. I only saw a little bit though, and it was so long ago I don't remember much, so I would like to ask some questions. These questions pertain to every game in the series. If the answer to any of these questions is different for each game, please say so.

* First off, how much violence is there? I'm aware that there is blood, but is there any gore? I really, *really* do not enjoy seeing gore. I can handle some blood, but I'd really rather not see organs, bones, severed limbs and severed heads, and such. Additionally, is there an option to toggle the amount of violence? I know that there are some games out there that have options to let the player determine how intense the violence is; the amount of blood or if there even is any, whether there's gore or not, etc.

* Second, how are the stories of these games? Is story a focus? I'm not much one to spend a thousand hours running around the countryside aimlessly or completing menial tasks for random people. I rather like to focus on the story, while doing side-stuff on the side or after I finish the story. Which game would you say has the best story? Are the stories and worlds of each game connected in any way?

* Third, how much content overall does each game have? Just because I would prefer to focus on the story, doesn't mean I won't touch the side-stuff at all. Just how much stuff is there to do in these games?

* Fourth, I've heard that, in these games, your character's apperance is determined not by a character creation at the start of the game, but by your stats and abilities. Getting stronger makes you taller and more muscular. Learning magic makes glowing tattoos appear on your body. Levelling up in general makes you older. A powerful character will invariably be a super-swole old man whose whole body is constantly glowing. You also get scars on your body when you take large amounts of damage in battle. Is this really true? If so, is there any way for the player to control their character's appearance? Some way to stop yourself from getting bigger, or older, or gaining glowing tattoos, or getting battle scars? Or a way to undo these things once they have happened, while keeping your stats/magic/levels?

* Next, I am aware that you can get married in these games. How does it work? Can you marry actual characters in the game who are involved with the story or side-quests, or just random generic townspeople? Can your spouse travel with you and fight at your side?

* I'm also aware you can have children. Are they actual characters with a name, personality, and story, or are they just randomly generated NPCs? Can they travel and fight with you when they get old enough? Can you just have a family of badasses travelling the land together and smiting evil wherever they go?

* On the subject of marriage and children, I have heard that these things are *incredibly* glitchy, in any given Fable game. I've heard stories of children coming out not looking anything remotely like either of their parents. I've heard stories of a player's family just randomly vanishing from the game world entirely. Things like that. Are these glitches well-recorded? How can you avoid them, and is there any way to fix them if they do happen? And any similarly awful glitches, I would like to know about.

* Can you have a party, or are the games strictly a solo adventure? I would rather like to have some companions to travel and fight together with, if I can. If so, can you have companions that are actual characters, or can you only bring blank-slate generics?

* I'm aware that you can have a dog travel with you. What function does the dog serve? When do you get one? Is it mandatory to have a dog, or can you travel without one?

* I am aware that NPCs can die. If an NPC you happen to be attached to dies, can you revive them, or will they respawn eventually? Or are they gone for good and you have to reset the game if you want them back?

* On the subject of resetting, is it possible to reset if something bad happens that you don't want to live with, or if you just want to try things out? Or does the game autosave whenever something major happens so that save scumming isn't possible?

That's about all I can think of at the moment. I would greatly appreciate any information that anyone here can provide! Thankyou in advance!

* First off, how much violence is there? I'm aware that there is blood, but is there any gore? I really, *really* do not enjoy seeing gore. Blood and Gore is mild and some finishing moves remove heads and some blood is seen when you remove swords from downed enemies but its nothing major.

Story is a focus but you can pretty much go at your own pace through most of the games and pick up side quests along the way. Most side quests are quite short and nothing that would take up too much of your time and focus from main story.

* Third, how much content overall does each game have? Just because I would prefer to focus on the story, doesn't mean I won't touch the side-stuff at all. Just how much stuff is there to do in these games?

Stories average around 15-20 hours but depends on playstyle and how fast you play and how many activities and side quests you do.

* Fourth, I've heard that, in these games, your character's apperance is determined not by a character creation at the start of the game, but by your stats and abilities. Getting stronger makes you taller and more muscular. Learning magic makes glowing tattoos appear on your body. Levelling up in general makes you older. Some way to stop yourself from getting bigger, or older, or gaining glowing tattoos, or getting battle scars? Or a way to undo these things once they have happened, while keeping your stats/magic/levels?

Your appearance is based on stats such as Will, Strength etc and the more points you put into a particular area the more your character takes on the appearance. Buff and Strong for Warrior, Slim and Agile for archers, glowing lines for mages but it is all stat dependent.

* Next, I am aware that you can get married in these games. How does it work? Can you marry actual characters in the game who are involved with the story or side-quests, or just random generic townspeople? Can your spouse travel with you and fight at your side?

Its a rather basic system and you can marry NPC's and some important characters which have a questline behind it too.

* I'm also aware you can have children. Are they actual characters with a name, personality, and story, or are they just randomly generated NPCs? Can they travel and fight with you when they get old enough? Can you just have a family of badasses travelling the land together and smiting evil wherever they go?

Again pretty basic system and they are usually just randomly generated NPC's and they dont actually have much of a use.

Like any game there are glitches and things like this can happen, the game breaking glitches are well reported and most have been patched. Any that remain that are serious have either been fixed by modders or you could find them documented in enough places to avoid them yourself.

* Can you have a party, or are the games strictly a solo adventure? I would rather like to have some companions to travel and fight together with, if I can. If so, can you have companions that are actual characters, or can you only bring blank-slate generics?

Some of the games do have a co-op mode and more details can be found here.

* I'm aware that you can have a dog travel with you. What function does the dog serve? When do you get one? Is it mandatory to have a dog, or can you travel without one?

You get the dog at the very start of Fable II and he is very useful to have, more details are here.

* I am aware that NPCs can die. If an NPC you happen to be attached to dies, can you revive them, or will they respawn eventually? Or are they gone for good and you have to reset the game if you want them back?

I believe they respawn after a set amount of time.

* On the subject of resetting, is it possible to reset if something bad happens that you don't want to live with, or if you just want to try things out? Or does the game autosave whenever something major happens so that save scumming isn't possible?

Keep more than one savefile and if an autosave overwrites one at least you have another.

Thank you very much for the reply!

What constitutes "mild gore"? And could you please tell me which attacks can remove heads? And is it possible for your own character to get decapitated or dismembered if you are killed by certain enemy attacks?

Is there any way to manipulate your character's appearance and age to your liking independent of stats and abilities, or is carefully choosing stats and abilities the only way to have any amount of control over your appearance?

Is there a specific place where information on glitches and how to fix or avoid them has been compiled?

If I remember correctly different weapons have different finishers and swords have decapitation chance of removing head. Mild comic style blood nothing visceral and no I don’t believe it can happen to you.

You can change hair styles, tattoos, clothes, facial hair etc to your liking and only body type/size and such that are stat dependant.

The Fable Wiki is place for compiled glitches and here is Fable III list for example.
