Both, now I can finally watch this classic in HD... disappointed though, because it took this damn long for it to happen.

Almost scared me though, when I saw "theatrical trailer" and the year 2012 at the bottom, I almost thought it was a remake. ):

I'm hearing whispers of a Hollywood remake (which BR fans have been convinced would never happen). I think any project they may have is going to be put on hold until the Hunger Games movies get put on hold. People can only be into one movie about kids killing eachother at a time I suppose.

Oh, and SO GLAD that they haven't been able to put together a Hollywood remake of Oldboy yet.

Films like Battle Royale, Oldboy and Ichi The Killer should never be touched by the likes of Hollywood. I say unless a film is horribly flawed, then there is no reason to do a remake at all. Sadly, I await the unfortunate day when Hollywood makes a remake of Pulp Fiction and **** hits the fan.

At least for Battle Royale and Ichi I'm hoping that a major studio just sees the premise and thinks of it as company image suicide. Oldboy was safe because they botched the process of getting the rights to remake it properly. Unfortunately they're very interested. I think it'll be coming to the US in a few years :(

It's times like this that ignorance becomes bliss, if it does come to fruition, then you can bet I won't be there to see it.

I just don't see why these right holders agree to such things when their films are already perfect as is. If you're in dire need of the cash, then okay, but if not, then why not at least be the one to watch over the project yourself? Or in other common cases to give the product a Translated Sub/Dub release.

Regular folks like us cry foul, but I think it just goes to show from their perspective, those movies were made great with the intention of making money. A remake that brings in more wealth would be silly to turn down in that case, don't you think?
