Anyone else think the Hero's Guild being destroyed was a bad ending for Fable?

I would think that The devs would have wanted to keep it standing so in Fable II the start would be the new Hero's induction to the guild and the guild recognizing him as a great descendant of the hero of Oakvale and the ancient bloodline. What do you guys think?

No. I personally love the idea of the Guilds' downfall. It would've made things much more interesting. Not to mention it would've twisted the entire story of the sequels as well, which might've turned out bad. Being a descendant of the Hero of Oakvale and being recognized at that would be rather boring as well, seeing how you'd be treated as a royalist.

As I posted in response to you here:

The destroyed guild at the end of Fable I was in fact rebuilt. If you let the credits roll, it lets you continue. In Fable: TLC, they in fact mention that the guild was rebuilt. It was destroyed in Fable II because the heroes were killed off.

Makes sense when you think about it. Sure, I liked the idea of the guild, but when you think about it, it's existence is a bit of a plot hole. You've got an academy of warriors and scholars who train and study for a good 20 years, PLUS they are the sole weilders of powerful magic. Why don't they run the world? Why do they limit themselves to simple jobs like escorting traders, or attacking caravans?

The guild being destroyed was the best thing that could ever happen to the lore. Even though it never mentions a form of vengeance for it, if you get seriously absorbed into the game, you feel and remember the bad things that happened in the past, which is why you must become a hero. And if it still stood, even more people would complain about Fable II (which I never understood :p)

I think it was actually pretty deppresing, I mean, it's the place that took you in as a child, a place you grew to love...

I didn't mind that Jacko destroyed the place at the end of Fable, it meant that our character in the sequel didn't just go to the hero's guild and train.

I think it was worth it to get that hilarious loading screen about the Guild Master and the words carved into his forehead.

Sooner or later it was going to happen. Heroes got too bigheaded and the people of Albion didnt like it.

What we should be asking ourselves is "damn. Should the people of Albion really be trusted with those guns?"

I think Lionhead destroyed the Guild because the guild was as you can see, corrupt. it's leader helped the most powerful evil being of all time, and then was left leaderless. The guildmaster was obviously too weak too protect it(as Jack destroys it and then, in TLC, you can choose whether to kill Weaver or not. Either way, he's a scrub.), so anyone powerful enough can just come on through and destroy it. Jack of Blades himself was a Hero, so maybe people finally decided "Hey, I think they're making these people a little TOO powerful". And even after that, the Hero of Oakvale was able to defeat him, and thus an even MORE powerful hero. I think people finally realized the Guild was just not working out.
