Elder Scrolls Performance Error

I have a really strange problem with Oblivion, the intro runs laggy and the sound stutters yet the actual game runs perfect. Anyone know what could be wrong? Ive tried downloading latest drivers etc to no avail and have had this problem for 3 hours now and cant seem to sort it out and im getting really angry :realmad:

Also if i try to uninstall it i get this message:

That is a very weird message. Anyways, maybe your video card isn't that good. No, that probably isn't it....

My best guess would just to write the error down and go ask some local computer store.

Re: Elder Scrolls Performance Error

Its odd that the actual game runs perfect but videos and intro jerk and sound skips. I might know what the error is now though just testing afew things as afew people have had this problem.

Specs are here http://forums.projectego.net/your-computer-specs-89/

Re: Elder Scrolls Performance Error

I managed to fix the uninstall error and re-install the game but am still running into the same error, its really odd. I dont know if its just the first cutscene in the game that does it or they are all going to do it (i havent witnessed anymore cutscenes).

Re: Elder Scrolls Performance Error

Well, I know soemone in a different forum whos PC version seems pretty glitchy too, in fact there are times when he almost can't even run it. Just like you his computer specs are all in pefect order to play the game. So your not the only one.

Re: Elder Scrolls Performance Error

Im sure a patch would sort it right out :)

Im VERY happy with the actual game though, no problems there just those damn movies. Just installed it on steves comp and its other way around, he can run movies but game is laggy.

Then maybe it is the comp's specs.

Steves comp is mid-range and i thought it would run it but wont so it is the specs there but its not the specs on mine thats causing the error in videos, i think its a codec clash.

Re: Elder Scrolls Performance Error

Maybe, I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to computers, all I know is the basics. So I can't really say anything with 100% certainty.

Re: Elder Scrolls Performance Error

Basically i think that some of the codecs for my divx player etc are interferring with the filetype that the movies of Oblivion are meant to play as and so they arent running properly.

You updated GFX drivers? If you have a Geforce card they brought out some special ones for it that you might need to install.
