GFK-ChartTrack has confirmed that Fallout: New Vegas has outperformed its predecessor Fallout 3's opening weekend sales by almost a third. The UK games data monitor reported that New Vegas - which went top of the games charts this morning - "comfortably" beat Bethesda's previous record holder. New Vegas' sales on Friday, Saturday and Sunday were 29 per cent greater than Fallout 3's in week 44 of 2008. That game also hit No.1 in the chart.

I am really dissapointed I couldn't get this game at release. Fable 3 interrupted it, and I hate starting games then not finishing them, so this'll be a christmas title for me.

But from what I've seen and read, it looks like a really strong game.

Played it for 13 hours so far and it just feels huge. Ive only just started to feel like ive been making progress. Also at the same time feels like ive done very little in that time but roam from place to place and accumulate items and knowledge. I think ive almost caused the extinction of a couple of species with the amount ive killed too.

Excellent, my fondest memories of Fallout 3 are of the really early wandering treks where you don't know where you're going, but find cool stuff along the way. Really awaiting this now.

Been enjoying it and all the reviews have been talking about glitches and such but ive seen no major ones so far. The odd enemy appearing in walls or landscape and some lag switching to VATS but thats it.

Well, way I see it is by the time I get it, most bugs will have been patched. Win/Win situation ;)

Although I'm sorry I might miss out on some bugs, like this one:

That wasnt in the console version and only appeared in the PC version but ive seen the video.
 Daemon showed me it a while back and I thought it was awesome.

So would you consider New Vegas as a completely new game or is too close to Fallout 3 to be like that?

It feels the same with its systems and feel and improves on a lot of things from Fallout 3 but although i played Fallout 3 for 70+ hours i havent felt any tie from Fallout 3 to New Vegas other than the obvious. Storywise and the pace the game plays out feel quite different as the starts of the game are very different.

Excellent. Similarity between the two games was the worst thing I feared about New Vegas, and even then it isn't a big deal because I love Fallout 3.

Yeah i was the same, i was expecting Fallout 3 with some minor improvements and fixes but weirdly it feels very different. Cant put my finger on why but it just does when your playing it. The systems are the same and engine is the same with many enemies reappearing but for some reason it still feels different somehow.

You know what ****es me off?

The title.

It should be Fallout 4: New Vegas! Fallout: New Vegas sounds like an expansion pack to the good ol' original PC game. I hate it when they mess up both movie and video game titles like this...

I played Fallout 3 for 90+ hours, glad to hear its not the same, I'll get this at Christmas too maybe, or when its gone cheaper. I never followed the hype much so I'm not excited for it, but everyone's raving so I'll get it eventually.

I really enjoy this game, aside from the glitches here and there (the most annoying being the Cowboy Repeater reload glitch). Not even 2/4 of the way through the game and I'm 56hrs into it, there's so much to explore and do in the game, and Hardcore Mode is quite interesting to say the least.

I'd recognize NV as being more of an actual Fallout 3, since the Bethesda-developed FO3 had very little to nothing at all to do with Fallout 1 & 2.

And with the "Wild Wasteland" trait chosen at the beginning of the game, it makes F:NV even more worthy of being called Fallout 3.
