No Man's Sky Xbox One Release Confirmed, Big Update Coming To All Versions

No Man's Sky is coming to Xbox One alongside a big new update, developer Hello Games has announced. The game's Xbox One release is coming at some point in 2018, while the update is also coming for free to PS4 and PC this year.

All previous expansions--Foundation, Pathfinder, and Atlas Rises--will be included in the Xbox One release, while the upcoming update will also be pre-installed. The game's Xbox One box art states it will be enhanced for Xbox One X with 4K and HDR capabilities, but no details on those features have been announced.

No Man's Sky's next big update adds full multiplayer, out in July

No Man's Sky's next big update, which introduces a proper multiplayer mode to Hello Games' ambitious space exploration sim, will launch on July 24th.

The news comes via Hello Games' Sean Murray, who made the announcement during an appearance on Microsoft's latest Inside Xbox livestream. Murray also spent a few moments offering a broad overview of the update's new multiplayer features.

Next, as the update is known, was described as No Man's Sky's "biggest update so far" when it was revealed in March, and Murray says that it will fuse a "full multiplayer experience" to the game's increasingly rich blend of survival, exploration, crafting, flying, and questing.

We always wanted No Man’s Sky to grow and develop after it released. I’m happy we’ve been able to do that.

I am so proud of the team at Hello Games, what they did was incredible. Over the years of development the average team size was 6, the final team was just 15 people at launch. No Man’s Sky has grown to be a very broad game, ambitious, technically unique and very pretty at times, all the more impressive for a team that is still small.

Whilst I couldn’t be prouder of the team, I personally made mistakes. I could talk all day about things I personally would change. Certainly one regret is that the intensity and drama of launch left no room for communication with the community.

We decided instead to focus on development rather than words. Following Foundation, Pathfinder and Atlas Rises, we really want to include you, the community, more.

We know that a million gamers played on the day we launched Atlas Rises. That everyone who bought Atlas Rises played for 45 hours on average and 90% rated it positively. We know that 20% of players hit over 100 hours, and 5% hit over 1000. We know that over 200 million hours of No Man’s Sky have been played to date. It makes us happy, but desperate to communicate better.

A little while after the release of No Man’s Sky NEXT, Hello Games has planned its first season of weekly content and community events. This will be free for all players, with no microtransactions.

We are also launching a new website dedicated to the community, which we’re calling the Galactic Atlas. The site features points of interest in the No Man’s Sky Euclid Galaxy, all nominated by you through the survey we created earlier this month. This will grow in functionality and expand over time, in part through your feedback.

The surveys for Atlas Rises will stay open until the launch of NEXT, so there is still an opportunity to contribute to the archive!

NMS_RoadMap.jpg

One day I hope to reach a point where I feel No Man’s Sky is “finished”, but luckily there’s still so much more we want to do. Working on NEXT feels important to us, but I know it’s not the end of the journey. We know the journey would be more fun together.

Thank you for playing No Man’s Sky, thank you for playing Waking Titan, and we hope you enjoy everything still to come.

Sean

For anyone who has started playing No Mans Sky recently or got back into it again (like me) since the excellent NEXT update and XB1 release, this video gives some great tips.

No Man's Sky Money - How to earn Units with Whispering Eggs, and the fastest way to earn money in No Man's Sky

Money is tight in No Man's Sky. You've got ships to buy and new Exosuit/weapons expansions to pay for if you want to do well in No Man's Sky, you're going to need to earn some cash.

Fortunately, there are a pretty wide range of methods for doing so. Money - referred to in-game as Units - can be earned through mining, trading, piracy, and even botany in No Man's Sky, and as such there's a fair bit of confusing or contradictory advice over how best to go about earning it, particularly when you want to do so as quickly or efficiently as possible.

Today the team behind No Man’s Sky launched its first batch of promised weekly content and community activities. Fans of the spacefaring game will now be able to participate in a new quest, and earn in-game cosmetic items for their effort.

Seasonal content was just one of the promised features enabled by Hello Games’ recent, game-changing update, Next. According to today’s announcement on the game’s official website, the first bit of No Man’s Sky season one will focus on Specialist Polo and Priest Entity Nada. It is only available to players who have unlocked one of the game’s three main quest lines, specifically the Space Anomaly mission in that series.

The first batch of items will include:

Six new base building parts;
  • Six new base building parts;
  • Three decals;
  • A new emote;
  • And additional options for character customization.
Hello Games also said that more than 50 additional items will be added in the next few weeks, including exocraft and more customizations.

No Man’s Sky 1.59 Update

No Man’s Sky 1.59 Update: New Mission

First of all, the update addresses a brand new community mission. The official notes read:

“Beginning on Thursday 6th September, (Specialist Polo) will reach out to all explorers and once again request their assistance in documenting the changes taking place in the fabric of reality.”

The mission involves conducting tests on the fauna of a planet in order to examine the correlation between their diets and Hex Core contamination. The reward for this mission is Quicksilver, which can be exchanged for some brand new items at Polo’s Quicksilver Synthesis Bot. These items include new base building parts, the customizable Blazing Orbit helmet, and “a pair of touching decal portraits of Nada and Polo themselves.” It has also been stated that the Quicksilver Synthesis Bot will have even more new items on offer over the coming weeks. Also, the update includes a brand new laughing gesture, which allows Travellers “to experience joy,” so you can rejoice after collecting all of that Quicksilver.

No Man’s Sky 1.59 Update: Patch Notes

So, the patch notes, when broken down, basically reveal the following information about the No Man’s Sky PS4 update and its Xbox equivalent:

New items have been added to Polo’s Quicksilver Synthesis Bot, as mentioned above. Over the coming weeks, more items will be added, too. After this, the rest of the patch notes deal with bug fixes.

The first fix is in relation to saving your discoveries. Apparently, some people had issues with saving their discoveries, so Hello Games has remedied the issue. Discoveries save as they should now. Also, players with a specific number of inventory slots would have other slots hidden by the game’s UI. As of 1.59, this no longer happens.

Some players encountered difficulties in relation to returning to the correct galaxy after completing certain missions. This, as well as the issue in relation to portals closing prematurely. has been fixed. Players no longer end up at the wrong planet post-mission. Similar bugs have also been removed, as players no longer get stuck on a black screen, and the starship can now land even after a player has changed mission. Players in the wrong galaxy can also return to their home galaxy now, via the first entry in the Space Station Teleport list.

Finally, the bug which caused players with corrupt saves to have no ship upon recovery has been fixed.

No Man’s Sky 1.59: Future Plans

The page that Murray’s tweet links to also includes something rather unusual: a sneak peek at Hello Games’ future plans for No Man’s Sky. These plans include an upcoming bug fix that will allow shared bases to download while players are exploring. Hello Games also plans to change the attack behaviors of Biological Horrors.

Hello Games also plans to enable terrain tesselation on PS4 and Xbox One X, which will enable “detailed terrain height maps without sacrificing performance.”

More options will be added to the appearance customization suite, as the developers hope to increase the diversity of characters in No Man’s Sky. Also, PC players will be able to benefit from Hotkey Bindings now, which will allow them to access menu options quickly by using a keyboard shortcut for the sake of convenience.

The statement concludes with Murray signing off, announcing that there are exciting times ahead for fans of No Man’s Sky, as the Hello Games team will strive to add even more content in the coming weeks.

Thank you so much for playing and for sharing. It really makes us feel like we’re on this journey together with all of you.

Listening to you, the players, is an essential part of this journey for us. This week we are reaching out with a survey to discover more about what the community is most interested in seeing in No Man’s Sky. Please take this opportunity to have your voice heard!

No Man's Sky Development Update 7 brings carnivorous plants and Patch 1.65 notes

Development Update

We have another No Man’s Sky update, folks. Last time we talked, we were treated to the Pilgrim Exocraft, along with an overhaul of Exocraft mechanics and customization. This week, patch 1.64 introduces a new Community Research update.

New collectibles are also available for players to grab. You can now find and display statues of the iconic Alpha Vector starship, cast in either, bronze, silver, or gold. There are also two new gadgets available for explorer bases: A spherical hologram and an expanding cube. The planetary hologram can represent any of the many planets a player can visit.

The team is hard at work on future large updates. We are so very close to being able to share something exciting with you, but we’re going to contain our excitement and keep it under wraps for just a little longer, to make sure all the final polish passes are in place.

Thank you for playing and reading these updates!

Thank you so much,
Sean

Version 1.7 of the game sees Hello Games overhaul the underwater rendering and effects, while adding submersible building modules to create underwater seabases, replete with airlocks to contend with water pressure, and the upgradeable Nautilon exocraft with which to explore the ocean bed.

Down there you might find sunken wrecks, treasures and submerged buildings, while there’s more variety in the flora and fauna for you to appreciate and add to your encyclopaedia of alien life. You may also be drawn into The Dreams of the Deep, a new story section which adds hours more content, where you try to discover the fate of a crew of a freighter crash.

The free update it out now for No Man’s Sky on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

No Man's Sky's next major update is Beyond, brings "radical" new online component

Hello Games has unveiled the next major free update heading to its exploratory space sim No Man's Sky. It's called Beyond, is due this summer, and includes a "radical" new online multiplayer component.

No Man's Sky: Beyond is described as the game's "most ambitious chapter so far", and originally began as three separate planned updates before Hello Games made the decision to combine them into one huge update. The studio isn't revealing every feature to be included in Beyond just yet, but has shared early information on the first component, known as No Man's Sky Online.

This, according to the developer, the No Mans Sky Online update will introduce "a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together". It's not entirely clear what this means in practice, but it evidently builds upon the multiplayer features introduced in last year's Next update - which enabled teams of four to play, explore, and create together in No Man's Sky's procedurally generated universe.

No Man's Sky's next major update Beyond gets a mid-August release date

Hello Games has revealed that the exploratory sci-fi sim's long-awaited Beyond update will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 14th August. Beyond is No Man's Sky's seventh major free update since launch in 2016 (following on from Foundation, Path Finder, Atlas Rises, Next, The Abyss, and Visions), and is the "most ambitious chapter so far" according to its developer.

Beyond will consist of three major components, the first being full VR Support, the second is called No Man's Sky Online and will deliver "a radical new social and multiplayer experience"but that is all the details we have on that and then we still have the mystery 3rd component which is yet to be revealed....

No Man's Sky: Beyond's 'third pillar' makes it the perfect point to jump in

It's incredible to chart just how far No Man's Sky has come in just over three years. The latest trailer for next week's Beyond update, cut neatly to 65daysofstatic's driving soundtrack, invites comparisons to our very first glimpses of No Man's Sky - boldy so, you might say, after some of the controversies around the launch as expectation and reality didn't quite match up for some. But it goes to illustrate how No Man's Sky has evolved, surely surpassing anyone's expectations of what it would be.

The Beyond update pushes No Man's Sky further still, introducing features and improvements that might come as a surprise even to those who've been following its progress since Hello Games announced it earlier this year.

Hello Games not yet done with No Man’s Sky updates, plans ‘ambitious additions’

In a post on the game’s official blog, Hello Games said that its team has settled into the “new normal” of working remotely, a transition that has allowed the developer to “take a moment and look back” on its journey with No Man’s Sky. Four substantial content updates have been released for the game for free in the past five months as well as even larger content updates before those.

However they have said they arent done there and have even bigger and more ambitious plans for content through 2020 and onwards.
