Microsoft: Project Milo "Not A Game We're Planning To Bring To The Market"

500x_miloface.jpg

We'd always thought Project Milo, Lionhead's Kinect tech demo from E3 2009, was an actual game. Or at least an actual something. Turns out it's not, and will probably never be released to market.

While Microsoft told us that "Project Milo is something that is in ongoing development at Lionhead Studios" following its no-show at this year's E3, Xbox's director of product management Aaron Greenberg now tells Aussie TV show Good Game, "Last year we unveiled the Project Natal technology, we showed a bunch of technology demos as part of that. And obviously [Milo] is a technology demo that continues to exist, but right now it's not a game that we're planning to bring to market."

Sure answers the question of "how the hell is this kid supposed to be fun?", if a tech demo was all it was intended to be. It now seems likely that whatever technology was powering Milo will turn up in a future Lionhead game. Fable IV: The Apprentice, maybe?

I was wondering if all you did was talk to him and if there was really any sort of adventure or meaning to the game other than the demo. turns out there isn't.

Gheyyyyyyyyyy

:( disappointing it could of turned out kinda cool, but how is it supposed to be entertaining? How is kinectimals fun? interaction with a game character! Personally I'd prefer interaction with milo than some tame lame tiger who just wants to play with my ball rather than eat me....

That article is a misquote, Lionhead & Microsoft stated that it isn't a product that they will be bringing to the market this holiday.

Joystiq said:
Van Tilburgh deferred to Greenberg, who tweeted this official statement today: "Project Milo absolutely continues in development at Lionhead Studios, it is just not a product we plan to bring to market this holiday." While carefully worded, Greenberg's statement suggests that Milo, in some shape or form, is likely to be integrated into a retail product in the future.

So fear not you Milophiles, we'll all get to play with that little boy someday.
