Snowblind

6/30/1897

The woman stepped out from the shelter that she had found. She had a scarf covering her face from neck to nose, but the snowstorm bit at her face like glass. Her fur coat shook as she moved slowly but smoothly through the thick, tense snow fall. It constantly hit her face, the snow storm was so deep that it you could not see within ten feet in front of you. Her eyes squinted in her tight goggles as she tried to find a path to the mountain pass. The sun had already set, the shadows of animals could be slightly seen shifting through the storm like darts. The bright vibrant glow of the flash light pierced through the night sky and storm, doing so much but yet so little with the thickness. The cold made the arms stick up on her arm and froze them at the same instant. The dark glow of red lay in the snow five feet ahead. It had started in one spot and moved to the next, like water does when hitting a surface, dispersing itself everywhere. There were chunks mixed within the pool of red liquid, the liquid was dark and think, she dare not touch it. She saw something in the distance and moved toward it quickly with anxiousness. The gruesome site of a bloody hand, with the fingers gripped around a key, a key to something, something worth dying for.
