Xbox 360 black screen

Ok this is really stupid i was playing on my xbox just yesterday and now it doesnt work anymore and i dont know if its my scart-cabel or its my xbox because i still have sound and i can scroll trough my dashboard because i can hear that.

maybe one of you has ever had it so maybe you know something i dont.

Clean your scart? Pull it out and breath/blow in either side. It gets the dust out, so it might work after.

Then its probably xbox orientated. Are there brightness/contrast settings for the xbox 360? Does anyone know?

Try it on another TV first, if the same happens then its likely the scart cable or port is broken. This happened to my cousin and it was the actual port that has malfunctioned.

yeah thats what i tought to but i may be my scart because ive got normal sound so i just want to know it for sure before i send it in

Register for repair online and type issue in and it will tell you if its in warranty and if there is any charge after you type the serial number for the console in.

If you have a spare scart lead, replace your current scart with the spare one and see if that makes any difference. Also, if your 360 is HMDI-compatible, try using a HDMI cable and see if that makes a difference. 1m HMDI cables cost about £3 nowadays so it'd be cheap to test and I'd recommend upgrading to HDMI if you do have the option anywho.

Then again, if you've tried this already, then as DD said: Looks like you might have to send the old gal off to Microsoft for repairs.

Ok thanks for the help but i've found the problem my friends havent got an xbox 360 but a friend of a friend has and he took his Xbox with him to my friend so i tried my scart cable on his xbox and he also had a black screen so i need to get a new scart-cable
so you can close this thread because the problem is fixed ty

Good to hear the problem is solved, although I'd follow Steve's advise and get a HDMI cable if your Xbox supports it because it delivers high quality HD and you don't need separate wires for sound and picture etc.

Amazon has them for around £24, could be cheaper places if you shop around.
