Hi all,

An SSL Certificate is basically the little security padlock which appears in your browser's address bar for websites which offer account registrations and stuff. It's considered a must nowadays for websites to show that they're going above and beyond to keep members' communications with a website totally secure, but of course it's an additional expense. There are also additional SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) benefits that mean that Google and Bing and whomever else may give you a little additional visibility in search results, as a website is considered more 'safe'. A quick info graphic via Blue Corona:

Here's how we should look in your address bar right now:

And here's how devilmaycry.org would look in your address bar:

SSL certificates are paid for on a yearly basis, and my host (TotalChoice Hosting) offers them for$25 per year - significantly less than I've found anywhere else. For anyone interested, the SSL service my host uses is called 'EssentialSSL Certificate' and is offered via the company Comodo whom also develop a free firewall that I used to use several years ago. Not sponsored, just throwing it out there.

Any questions, feel free to ask. If anyone feels up to donating towards the SSL Certificate, you can do so via the donation option on the forum homepage, or gifting it directly to me through my PayPal. Apologies for the e-begging, and thank you for considering. (y)

Thank you so much to @queenofdisco for donating the full amount! We now have a SSL certificate installed, and with it a brand new security padlock. It's recommended to access the website via the updated https://fablehero.com/ URL (the new 'S' standing for 'Secure'), but I'm hoping to get an automatic redirect in place later on this evening.

Some pages/threads will still show as 'Not Secure' even with the padlock, but this will be remedied once XenForo's image proxy handling has been enabled (it's been a while since I've tinkered with this, but I don't remember it being all that troublesome) then the 'Unsecure' pages issue should be eliminated. Here's a video explanation by the XenForo team of how the proxy system works, if anyone is interested; the overview begins at 2:30 mins in the video:

Thank you so much again to @queenofdisco!

Sorry about the anonymous issue, @queenofdisco! There must be a bug somewhere as the option doesn't appear checked on my end! If it helps I can edit my post(s)?
