No Healthbar/No Experience

PM said at X10 that Fable 3 doesn't have a healthbar or experience points.

Sound strange. Hope it turns out well.

Thoughts?

Im kind of annoyed about the healthbar, but the experience might be interesting. Im intrigued as to how other people's opinions of you change the gameplay, it seems to make the choice more meaningful.

I'm kinda the opposite, PN. I quite like the sound of the no health bar thing but I'm not sure how I feel about no experience. I guess the Lionhead crew must have thought up some other way for your character to level up and upgrade abilities...?

i'm hoping this means they are changing the combat system so that it relies more on individual skill and not on how high your characters level is.

To be honest I'm more curios than anything. If I remember correctly it was said that there would just be no HUD. Will be interesting to see.

Despite claiming there wotn be experience it is still there, just no visible. If you become stronger as your weapon does, and your weapon becomes stronger as it kills and has impact on events, then that IS experience. it's just invisible to make for a more realistic experience

It's hardly more realistic to have your weapon get stronger. How many mugger's guns eventually get upgraded to chainguns once they mug enough people?

I think it's wise to conclude at this point that Peter is going more for immersion rather than realism, which I can dig.

Anyway, the lack of a health bar isn't too much of a concern for me. After all, I've been living without it for a while now since many games have ditched it. Not only that, but from the way Peter has described the health system, it seems similar to what we saw in MW2, so simply keeping an eye on your screen would suffice.

As for the lack of experience, I'm a bit iffy on that. I don't much like the idea of followers dictating how badass I am in combat. They did mention something about wielding different weapons and using different spells had an effect on that, so it may work out.

Health is represented by the screen-colouring effects common in action and FPS games - Fable III has no HUD most of the time - while your character grows in power according to how many followers he or she has in the game's world of Albion.

Levelling up is also represented by your weapons, which grow and change appearance according to how much and how you use them
