All economy-tier manufacturer stock parts in an Acer case in early 2010s style. I do like the case, it's got a classy aged architecture appeal.

AMD processor, quad core at 3.4ghz. Can't remember offhand but I think it's FM4. Sounds good except embedded graphics, ati apu, definitely nothing fancy. Embedded audio, but I'm partially deaf so I don't care too much about that.

4gb ddr3 ram. Basic speed. Max 16gb on motherboard.

Single white label hdd, 500gb. Sata 3.0, with room for another. The hard drive looks good, I'm just concerned about the age. I already created an image backup (whole reason I got the machine was the software!). Wanna replace it and use the old one for non-vital storage.

Haven't looked at power supply, not even sure how I'd check it.

Case doesnt matter so long as its big enough to house a decent gaming GPU in it, so long as the motherboard can fit a modern GPU in you should be ok. That processor might be able to handle games ok depending on which model it is and would need some more RAM (8GB minimum I would say). I was recommended a AMD ryzen 5 3600 & they are incredible for the price but im waiting on new CPU & GPU announcements in next couple of months. The Power Supply usually has the model and details written on label on it.

New GPU is the main thing you require with some additional RAM and maybe a new CPU (so it doesnt bottleneck the GPU).

I've been wanting to build a new machine for a while now. Probably going to do it sometime this year. Currently waiting for the next gen GPUs to hit the market.

I've been wanting to build a new machine for a while now. Probably going to do it sometime this year. Currently waiting for the next gen GPUs to hit the market.

Ive been holding off for ages and watching the prices go up and down frequently for the parts I wanted. Then the trend seemed to be that they were creeping up more than they were going down so I opted to buy them now before the prices got too outrageous. Got a good deal on the Ryzen 7 3800X so couldnt turn that down and sold some things on eBay to fund buying the Motherboard & RAM. Now once I have fitted all those parts I shall sell my old CPU, Motherboard and RAM and put that cash (as well as cash from selling other items) towards a new GPU when they launch.

EDIT* Upgrades are installed and awaiting GPU announcements now.

You guys are mean! :'(
Scott had told me this, im sure it was through gritted teeth however.:troll:

He's a cheeky sod. He spent more time on it than I did when he was last here. The damn thing is just as, or perhaps even more powerful than his current rig!
"Gaming" laptop :troll:

I'll have you know it can run The Sims 4 on ultra! Hmph!

RIP my Origin account with a free Sims 4.

It's ok, though. Epic is giving away free games every week, which I'm not ever going to play.

Really hope the new GPU announcements happen soon, really want to know some specs and what sort of prices to expect to have to pay.

I actually played GTA V on there the other day as Steve and I were going to try online at some point.

Would like to see him admit that  handy to have no doubt and hope you push it a little more than The Sims 4. :p

Oh he never will. He’s stubborn as a mule.

Of course! Mind you a lot of the games I prefer to play on PC are indie titles you simply cannot get on console. So there’s that lol.

The GPU price prediction is that it will mostly remain the same with the exception of added top end cards breaking price records.
I'm probably going to aim for a higher mid end card, nothing too expensive, which will hopefully compete with current higher end cards in terms of performance.

I installed FO4 on my laptop. Delving into the world of mods is very enjoyable.

Also I can run it on high settings so... :p

From the rumours I have been hearing the Higher end of the Mid Tier range should outperform a lot of the higher end last generation cards for a fraction of the price. The price is the main thing im waiting to be announced and hoping that with competition between nVidia and AMD and now consoles pushing better than ever specs it might force some rethinks in the pricing models.

After hearing the announcement for the new 3000 series nVidia cards I’m torn between the 3070 & 3080 at the moment.

I just got a good deal for a used 1070. It runs all my current games decently so I'm not too quick to upgrade. Still aiming for a completely new rig by the end of the year, but I'll see about that. I'm waiting for the new cards to hit and get reviewed and tested properly before making a decision. Also there could be benefits to waiting for a "second wave" of cards.
However, I'm probably aiming for a 3070. Seems like it'll be quite enough for my needs.

I believe it would be enough for my needs too but as I have the cash at the moment I may just stretch for the 3080 so I wont have to upgrade for a VERY long time as I have upgraded my motherboard, RAM and CPU in last few months already.
