Re: Re-Texturing for Dummies

Since it went back to default, maybe you did not click "Apply Changes" after you opened the new texture, or maybe you did not click "Action" then "Save Mods and Run Fable". Try again, be sure to do that, and good luck.
Jason

Edit: The file you are retexturing is an alpha file, did you remember to choose DXT3 in the box where you open the retexture? It is DXT1 by default, so you have to change it when opening the new color.

Re: Re-Texturing for Dummies

I made a simple gray, smoky, transparent texture for the regular plate set but after I upload it and go in it's not transparent. Am I doing something wrong or is it impossible to make a texture transparent that wasn't before?

+rep to HodgePodge, this guide was very helpful.

EDIT: I'm using .dds format and GIMP by the way and when I open the files back up they're transparent in GIMP.

I can't believe I hadn't done this already! Its so bloody easy. Now if only I had any idea how to make 3D models, and do all the weighting and such... Major + Rep

Re: Re-Texturing for Dummies

This thread actually got me started with re-texturing,
So +Rep for that!

But I still have one question..
Is there anyway to remove things from the thing you are Re-Texturing?
Like a ring for example?
Well,
Looking forward for a reply and once again,
Thank you very much.

Wouldn't you have to edit the model itself? It depends. You mean like the rings on the will gloves and boots? If so, you would. Which is annoying.

Re: Re-Texturing for Dummies

Mmh I see..
Well as I'm fairly new to the whole Re-Texturing I understood a bit of it,
But I was talking about actually removing them,
Maybe this'll be a better example;
You know the shop signs (Which obviously show up at shops) right?
What if I wanted to remove a part of the board?

Or another example;
What if I wanted to remove the hat from a trader?

Cheers.

Choose:
1. Make the part of the board you want to change to be completely transparent so it's as if it isn't there
2. Edit the model itself, as JohnDoe said.

Mmh I see..
Well I tried making a part transparent,
But then this problem persist;
It's actually transparent but it shows up as white (Edited with PS)

So then my question comes;
How do I edit the model it self?
Or is there a existing guide already?

Thanks in advance :).
