They're not that tough to be honest, I've killed a group with little trouble. However, there is another enemy out there that behaves the same as them and are a serious pain to deal with. They're called Magic Anomalies if I remember correctly and they're damn annoying as well at times.. (like.. Cliffracer annoying). Took me an hour to wipe a group of 10 of them out on Adept, they move quick and blocking their attacks hardly does anything.

Have to keep my eye out for them, I already accidentaly stumbled across a vampire lair full of them and a master vampire who managed to infect me though I cured it before it manifested properly. I did hit the thirst phase though but moved fast to get a potion to rid me of it. Mainly just the giants, Snow Saber cats and Frost Trolls I try to avoid.

Trolls regenerate health if you whack them - using a fire spell (or an enchanted item with that element) seems to be their weakness. If you're good enough at sneaking, Falmers can be avoided altogether. The toughest things I've come across, in all honesty, have been those Dwemer constructs - I managed to completely avoid battling a Centurion which was HUGE but the rest of them are rather nimble and strong.

Groups of any enemy can be tough, especially if you're surrounded - even Skeevers banding together can be annoying. When travelling in dungeons, forts, places you're not supposed to be etc, keep an eye on the ground for traps like bear traps and trip wires. If you see oily ground, back up and look for the trigger device. If you can't see one, try a shout like Unrelenting Force on any hanging jars - chances are they will fall to the ground and ignite the oil. Wait until it burns away before carrying on, obviously.

Also sometimes there are groups of hanging bones - these can be an alarm system that tells the Draugr that you are around. So long as you don't touch them, you won't usually have the trouble of fighting hordes at once.

And for anyone who wonders what the hell that chanting noise is when they are in a particular area and why it gets louder as you progress in a certain direction, that's an indicator that a new shout is nearby for you to learn. Follow the sound until it gets louder and you can then see rune writing on a surface - there's your shout. Just in case you haven't been bothering with the main quest and haven't come across it before.

Very handy to know as I didnt know about the first and havent came across any shouts on my travels yet. Now I will know what it is if I start to hear voices and know im not going insane. Did the first as part of the main quest but not randomly came across any yet.

So I stumbled across this guy talking about this Dragon Priest and this badass mask, so naturally I went inside...

bad move. I'm level 22 and this guy is wiping the floor with me. But I hear the masks you get from them are awesome so hopefully it'll pay off.
I've been looking for cool masks actually, can you PM me with the quest details so I can find it?

I didn't go all Nord Barbarian, powerful but clunky and slow. On adept I have to be more clever than that to survive all that I come across. The hardest enemies I've faced is a pirate captain with regenerating health and a one hit kill with a greatsword, other than that trolls because their health regenerates quickly.

I play a battlemage Dark Elf, go between powerful spells and my daggers, and luckily I have found some awesome daggers for my level.

Does anybody know how to actually initiate the finishing moves? Mine are all random there are perqs for better kill moves but Idk how to do them on command.

Ive been using power attacks when the enemy is stunned or near death and it depends on the position of the enemy in relation to the character too. They are very infrequent and random though as you said. Wish I knew a proper technique to pull them off more often though as some look kick ass and its really satisfying to take out a group of people each with finishing moves, feels bad ass.

Be for the best to label spoiler material with a spoiler label from now on.

I'd imagine there would be a cure for lycanthropy, but I haven't made it that far yet into their quests.. though I love being a werewolf personally. The lycanthropy power has an optional use, so if you don't want to transform then simply don't use it. From what I've seen, it doesn't follow the cliche of forced transformations when in view of a full moon.
oh sweet thanks. sorry for the spoiler thing :p

Yeah, I believe you're right. I had thought they were triggered by landing a critical attack as a final blow, but seems I was wrong. I saw a Bandit hunting down a moose and ran after her, sprinted up behind her and did a power attack on her while she was at full health. Immediately it went into a killing animation of me impaling her from behind with my one-handed sword.

EDIT: Just got another kill animation without a power attack, one was from sneaking undetected and resulted in a decapitation... the other was me hacking & slashing away. I find this all rather confusing..

oh sweet thanks. sorry for the spoiler thing :p
No problem man.

I get alotta them all the time, it's just when I'm sneaking I can do 6x damage but I don't know how to actually do the assassination kill, I just wanna see my guy slit a throat in complete silence.

Shouldn't there be a perk to unlock that underneath the Stealth perk tree?

It might be I'll check it out when I get on.

And then I have a question for anyone in the *Dark Brohood* Can you get the hood with the cloth on the motuh, I've seen it in game and in a trailer, or is the exposed face the only version.

Took me an age to find the best route to the greybeards. Town to bottom left of mountain which is diagonal to location. I went all the way around to the other side of the mountain only to find you couldnt get up that way.

The clairvoyance spell is really useful when you want to know where to go. Like a better version of the breadcrumb trail.

Currently playing through with my Imperial Andy Whitfield lookalike. I found him some Roman looking armor and he's dual wielding two bangin' (for a level 5) swords. I was crestfallen to learn that Skyrim did not have an arena. :'(

Anyway here's a fun little tidbit of info I found just wandering: The second location of the Become Ethereal dragon shout. It makes you invincible but unable to do damage for a short period of time. Location?

Head to Whiterun and start traveling east. You're in for a long journey. You should go in a straight line until you reach a river. Swing right and follow it north until it ends at a the bottom of a waterfall. Still with me?
Circle around the mountain to the right then travel up.

At the top of the waterfall you will find a stone bridge with four directions to it. Two exits on either side of the river, a perch overlooking the edge of the waterfall, and a fourth looking away from the waterfall. Turn away from the waterfall and follow the bridge, walking against the current. You'll find two ugly looking sombitches chanting some crazy scooby-doo nonsense. They'll summon some crazy tribal god man with teeth for eyes. Kill the goblin things and teeth-for-eyes successfully and the Become Ethereal shout is yours.

Yep will do later today, you might have to remind me though.

Also, are the shouts you unlock when you get dragon souls random? I have found 8 or 9 shouts, and I've killed about the same number of dragons, however out of the 8 or 9 shouts I've found, only two are unlocked despite me having 8 or 9 dragon souls. The two I've unlocked are also two you get from the main quest?

I was about to ask that, do you have to go back to the greybeards? Idk how to unlock my new shouts.

SO WAS I. Would've been a perfect starting place for new characters..

It would make some nice DLC though maybe they will in the future.

To unlock a shout of your choice, go to the magic part of your inventory (or whatever you call it). Select SHOUTS and pick the one you want. You then spend a soul to unlock it so choose wisely - once the soul has been used, it's gone forever.

That's what I do but it says 'you need dragon souls to unlock it' and I've killed like seven dragons so far. My sister has the same problem. The last dragon I killed didn't even disintegrate and I couldn't absorb it. Anyone have any ideas?
