I'm of the opinion that beards are awesome. "There are two kinds of people who don't have beards; women and children, and I am neither."- ancient Greek proverb.

But what are they good for? Even the experts can only guess the reason why human males grow beards. What do you think? I like the way my beard catches little bits and crumbles of food for me to eat later!

I lack the ability to grow a beard. So I made a makeshift one taken from the hair on my back.

Good for nabbing women and harvesting the power of the gods, too bad mine kept getting in the way. Shaved it off for a stubble, then proceeded to remove my pornstache which I painfully regret...

I'll never forget you Bruce, forever and always. <3

Wait.. you have a ginger beard? .. Odd.

Yet still a sexy combo.

People ask me more questions when I have a beard. Also it catches crumbs and holds sauce for later. And I don't get asked for an ID.....

People say I look like a Muslim when my beard is fully grown I find that offensive, so I wave a sword at them.

Less likely to get asked for ID when buying alcohol, I like my beard because without it I look much younger and its colder without it on my chin.

Come to think of it... I never did see you without a beard all these years, and I don't think I want to. End up being one of those traumatic cannot be unseen moments.

Warmth! I forgot about the beards warmth through winter, damn it!

Also chicks like to stroke beards, fact.

Also I think ive had a beard longer than ive been without one, Amy says I look weird without one and she prefers men to be men and not boys.

I don't really grow a proper beard, it's like the nasty teenager kind. Perhaps if I actually let it grow a bit longer it'd turn out better, but the steps between are much too painful to endure. One of the disadvantages of being blond.

Besides, I'm so handsome I don't need a beard to cover my face.

Why do we have it? In short, since it's not for survival or reproduction and it has been a part of our evolutionary lineage for millions of years, it's likely to be just one of many sexual dimorphisms that has been an icon of fashion for thousands of recorded years.

I love mine. I never get asked for my ID when buying paints or other things, and if I shave it off I drop 10 years.

Whenever anyone says anything about beards, I think of FableFreak. He has the most magnificent beard. He's had the damn thing since he was 16, and people say it makes him look like he's in his late 20s even though he's only a few months younger than me. If I can snag a picture of it, I'll be sure to post it. As for me, I can't really grow a beard that actually looks good, so I stopped trying a while ago.

Actually studies show when women are ovulating they are more attracted to men with beards.
That doesn't mean anything for reproduction. Does your beard fertilize an egg? Does it provide nutrients to the unborn? I don't think so ;). Or if it does, then

Now, it most certainly helps in attracting a mate, but it doesn't actually do anything for reproduction process.
