My handwriting is horrible. I struggle to read it myself most times and I've had many complaints about how illegible it is. My mother made me erase an entire page of homework and do it again as a child because my handwriting was that bad. I remember a friend telling me she didn't like my handwriting because it was was too "spiky", whatever that means.

I'm left-handed so whilst my handwriting sucks major spherical items, I do have the ability to write backwards, joined-up and everything, almost as quickly as I can forwards. Great for looking pretentious and intelligent...or mental, whichever way you choose to interpret it.

At school I was constantly in trouble over presentation but now I can write nicely if I can be bothered. If I'm being quick, I have to decipher it soon after writing otherwise I have no idea what I put.

I'm also a leftie and I can't do this :(

My handwriting's always been dreadful and as I got older I just made it harder to read to covertly mask the lack of substance in what I wrote.

I think I got some form of sewing machine license when I went to elementary school.... As for handwriting; as I said, I dread each time I have to actually sign something of vital importance because my handwriting sucks so hard because I do all my writing on the PC now.

I can't even do that cursive signature thing; I have to write each letter separately like a little kid for crying out loud.

I went for class the other day, and the lecturer wanted to take a look at my notes, and he was like
"What on Earth is THAT?"
"Sir, that's my handwriting."
"Are you sure that's your handwriting? You don't have a 4 year old sibling, do you?"

The thought behind using pens early is to learn how to avoid mistakes in the first place.

Yeah they had the whole pen discipline thing where I came from too, pencils could only be used for jotting and pen writing had to be joined up at all times- no exceptions.

When I was a kid, way back in the 1800's or whenever, we weren't allowed to use a pen until our pencil writing was of a suitable standard. I think in my case they just let me use a pen eventually because it was starting to get embarrassing for all involved.

When Jessica was in primary school they went on and on about a pen licence which I had never heard before and thought it was barking mad. Such a lot of fuss over an implement that is mostly ignored in favour of technology anyway.

As a side note, if I write for more than 4 minutes, my hand hurts and I ache like I've been lifting weights for an hour. that's how out of writing shape I am.
