From all I can see the nicest looking houses tend to be in either Bowerstone Market (opposite the pub) or in Brightwall. Although, the interior of the Brightwall houses tends to be pretty small. I remember in the Fable 2 houses they looked nice on the outside and have pretty big interiors too...

I don't know of any glitches. I wouldn't recommend glitching either, it might wreck your game more. If there's anything else I can help with don't hesitate to ask.

Hmm. They shouldn't have died. If you had enough money in your treasury before the attack then that money should have been used to save your villagers. It makes sense for the money to be gone afterwards because the money was spent on saving them. So it seems like it must be some sort of glitch...
