Re: Weapon Development Sure they would be compared to guns. But also with the advancement of guns, people realized to rely less on armor, hence the accuracy and distance over most rifles of the time comes into play with the bow.

Re: New types of weapons How would spears be silly at all? In the time period back then they would actually have been the most used, as they allowed a large range and easy incapacitation of horses and their riders which were pretty much the only threats left to long-ranged infantry back then.
