40Gb PS3 To Be £299 In UK

According to CVG they have heard that when the UK gets the new 40Gb PS3 it will recieve a big price drop to £299. The price of the 60Gb will apparently remain the same but this stripped down version will retail at cheaper than expected and also much sooner than expected. Sony are said to be unveiling this at the same time of Halo 3's launch this week if rumours have any truth to them.

If anything it makes a wicked cheep Blu-Ray player. I wonder how many current PS3 owners bought it just for that purpose.

If it sells like crazy but the games don't, you have to think that it sends a "Don't make games for the PS3" message. I'll say is again, It's going to be an interesting holiday season for the console makers.

Thing is... what games are there to actually sell well on it in all reality?

Titles like Assassin's Creed and Dark Sector will be big indicators. Seeing as they will be available on both, if sales on either console are less than stellar then developers may think twice before going through the effort of putting it out multi-platform. Developers might cash in on "The only game in town" effect.

If I had both consoles I'd still get them for the Xbox because of the gamer points and any Live extras that might be there.

And the fact that most cross-platform games seems to play better on the 360 as well....

Yeah i like Achievements as they add a new twist to games and give you ideas that you wouldnt have normally tried. Also Xbox Live is a great service and DLC on that is very well done.

Seem as though the 60Gb ones are £424 with 2 games at moment ($809) id say so :lol:

As new ones are $570.
