A Shield Please?

Well, I have played alot of RPG's and MMO's and I always liked shields for some strange resson.

But don't you think Fable III should have atleast some sort of shield. Becuase some players liked the knight aspect of Fable which The DLC in 2 gave us what we wanted. But how about a shield to go with ure oh so shiny sword? And giving it a special use.

For example you are defending againts bandits and you have ure shield back, by holding a button you charge up a flourish like move maybe known as shield smash. Which would end up you ramming the shield into the bandit and they fall back. I think it would add a nice aspect to the game.

On the otherhand Fable III would still be in the guns and rifles era. So shields would be useless. but I can still dream can I? =]

Re: A Shield Please?

I've always liked the idea of a shield, and I've always thought they should put them into Fable.

I think that there should be a dual weapon feature, and that blacksmiths should sell shields, which you can then equip as one of your weapons. Of course there would also be heavier two-handed weapons that can't be wielded with another weapon or with a shield, and you would also have the option of wielding only one light weapon even though you could use two.

I also think that enemies should have some kind of flourish attack that regular weapons can't block, but that shields can. Otherwise, shields wouldn't have any practical use since a melee weapon can already block regular enemy attacks.

Indeed I agree. duel wielding would be amazing and duel pistols as well. Or like a sword and pistol and dagger with pistol combat, perform great combos.

Re: A Shield Please?

Or a buckler at least (less clumsy, and perhaps still relevant to the era?).

BTW, the animations in your sig are distracting as hell and make it impossible to concentrate on reading your posts. Just sayin'. :P

Re: A Shield Please?

^ lol thats what sigs are for xD

On-topic: i think dual wielding would be very awesome but i think a shield will ruin some things but if they make it good it could work

Re: A Shield Please?

Actually there should be two weapon slots. Say someone wants to dual weild pistols, or someone wants a shield and sword, or a someone may want to have two swords... And two handed weapons would take both slots. so i agree on dual weilding

But anywa, a shield could be for those who want to be strictly strength. instead of having a sword to block, it would be a shield and the sheild could take the gun slot.

Oh and that signature kept distracting me while i was trying to read. lol. :)

Re: A Shield Please?

I don't think there should be just 2 weapon slots, I think there should be 4; 2 for melee and 2 for ranged combat. light melee weapons and shields each take up 1 melee slot, heavy melee weapons take up 2 melee slots, pistols take up 1 ranged slot, and rifles, crossbows, and blunderbusses each take up 2 ranged slots. That would give you more freedom to fight how you like.

And I quite like his signature...I could stare at the one on the left for hours O.o

Re: A Shield Please?

The one on the left is creepy, lol.

No four weapon slots is pushing it. 2 is good. What if you want to focus mainly on one area. And the other 2 slots will just mess things up. 2 slots is fine, and a person who wants to focus mainly on strength will use up those slots for strength, and etc...
And if one wants to go all around it will be on strength weapon and one skill weapon.

Re: A Shield Please?

If you want to focus on one area, then you simply don't use the other slots, or just keep some crappy weapons in them that you don't use. But if we are able to use dual weapons, and only have 2 weapon slots, you wouldn't be able to have a heavy melee weapon and a rifle at the same time. That would be ridiculous. Four slots would be perfect. All they would have to do is tweak the base damage of the weapons for everything to even out.

Re: A Shield Please?

they should have a shield with sharp edges, so not only is it a shield, its weapon as well. itd kinda be like cap'n americas shield

Re: A Shield Please?

That's pretty silly, man. You don't 'cut' or 'slice' with a shield - you bash people with it when used offensively.

Well, that and writing dirty words on it.

Re: A Shield Please?

I personally wouldn't use a shield and I didn't think they really fit in either Fable. That said, I can see Albion regressing a bit into a more Medieval society for Fable III.

Re: A Shield Please?

i really wish that they would set fable 3 back in the time of fable 1!!!

And what would happen then? In Fable 2, they mention that there hasn't been any great evil for 500 years, meaning since Jack of Blades, so there wouldn't be anything to make a story out of.

Re: A Shield Please?

Unless they went before Tlc??? Like the start of job or even make it so you actually play as him..

Re: A Shield Please?

I always thought the Fable games ought to have sheilds. But I wouldnt really care if Fable III didnt.

Its a nice idea, but I don't think it will happen. Thats my two cents.

Yea, me and some others have mentioned that before, maybe setting it in the time of the Old Kingdom, or even before that when Scythe destroys the Court. But I didn't get the feeling that was what Willstopher was talking about.

I'm right there with you. I always would have liked to have a shield in Fable, and shields might make the game a little better, but it's still an incredible game without them.

Re: A Shield Please?

I bloody love the idea of Dual wielding, shields and mixed weapon combos, I'm sure i've seen the Assassins that are sent to kill you in Fable 2 dual wield a Pistol and a sword, not 100% Sure though.

Also, I've just gotten the Knothole knight armour on a Good character and it looks awesome, all I need is a shield, unfortuantly they dont exist for some reason.

These ideas SHOULD be in all of the Fables to be honest D:

Unless somone could mod Fable TLC to dual swords I dont know.

Re: A Shield Please?

I don't think a shield would fit in since we have guns too.
Just like we probably wont see crossbows and sertainly not normal bows.

Dual weilding is an option, but I'd much rather have an enormous Two-handed greatsword.

Re: A Shield Please?

I don't know why I hadn't remembered this before, but shields were mentioned and even seen in TLC. Blacksmiths hung shields up around their weapons, and they would say things like, "swords, axes, shields, we got it." I know that was way back in TLC, and weaponry changes in 500 years, but I can dream, can't I?

EDIT: Not to mention the badass shield that Thunder carried.
