A Slight Expansion to the Schecter33 Cash Technique...
The Schecter33 Cash Technique is indeed one of the most effective ways to earn gold quickly and efficiently. Here's a simplification for those who don't really want to wait around until being allowed into Bowerstone North:
You'll need several things:
- At LEAST 25 Health and 25 Will Potions (You'll find enough soon enough if you kill a lot of monsters (Bandits and Hobbes will do)
- A decent Guile level (Guile 3 is usually good enough)
- Some investment capital (Around 1000 gold or so. Sell off about two or three Resurrection Phials to the Heroes Guild merchant if you're desperate for the cash.)
The best target for your little economic rampages is the General Items merchant who owns a stall right next to the entrance gate inside the slums of Bowerstone South. Basically, go up to him and buy off ALL of his Health and Will potions, and then exit. Afterwards, immediately go back up to him and sell all of your Health/Will potions. Then, buy them all off him again. You'll notice that you're getting a profit! The profit margin will expand even more when you're dealing with more potions, so be sure to go back to him and repeat this trick if you have a lot of potions with you and you're running low on cash.
Patience is the key with this particular trick, since the initial profit margin is fairly small, but with about ten minutes' worth of buying/selling those Health/Will potions, you'll easily get enough to cover all of your wants in the game, including dealing with that ridiculous Temple of Avo. Plus, you'll get a good amount of Skill experience by getting all that profit. You'll also need to be rather conservative with your potions as well. Knowing how to avoid damage/avoid needless mana expenditure is good for this type of economical trick.
With this trick, I was able to get my hands on a Master Greatsword and Master Longbow about 30 minutes after I was finished with Apprentice Training.
Be sure to use the "Sell Maximum" and "Buy Maximum" options, or this trick won't work. Oh, and don't forget to buy back all your potions when you're finished.
