Adaptive Weapons??

Has anyone else heard about the new adaptive weapons? like that your weapons will change based on your fighting style and alignment.

I was wondering if this is just a rumor, and if so how it might work?

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

That's exactly right, yes. You will indeed be able to mould your weapons to better suit your playing style. Molyneux himself has stated (for what it's worth...) that if you happen to be evil, and prefer to use swords over, say, guns, your sword will show wear-and-tear, become jagged and even permanently drip blood.

Apparently your Gamerscore will also influence not just your weapons, but your appearance as well.

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

If you kill innocents it will drip with blood and be sinister looking

If you kill enemys it will glow and look clean

If you kill Hobbes it will become jagged and will look like bones
Only a Hobbe looking weapon has been seen at the moment

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

that all sounds pretty awsome. god, i can't wait for fable 3...

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

Neither can I. :D
But what about us who don't really thrive for gamerpoints? I play plenty of games, but I play them for the content, not the achievements. . . Will a low gamerscore (say 3000 something) have any NEGATIVE effects? Or has there even been anything released about this? :P

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

I agree. I don't want my gamerscore to have anything to do with the gameplay, actually. It would be a smart move for there to be a toggle on/off button for gamerscore alteration, if you ask me. . . . I really don't know enough about Natal to judge whether or not I want it. I haven't looked into it at all, really. But it isn't required, so I think we're good on that one.

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

i dont think you are affected by the total gamerscore you have, but the ammount of gamerscore you have earned through fable 3 achievements, so the more f3 achievements you do the better.

if so, then they can simply give the pc version similar achievements, and keep the feature.

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

I have fairly decent game score so I'm am not quite so worried, but what does worry me is that it will probably by a bit lame for people online to see your friends with these massive, cool looking blades while you with a low game score still have something like a stupid iron long sward.
But there are always some advantages to situations like these. I mean how many people in fable 2 got passed wraithmarsh and then stuck with just legendary weapons like the rammer... I know I did. thats why I'm going to enjoy mixing it up a bit. I don't know about others but I'm eager to find out what a blade would look like if you kill a lot of trolls (if in game) no pun intended... ('.')

This is the only logical way of implementing gamer score with-out penalising those who don't have many games. It will only be your Fable III (and maybe Fable II) gamer score that will be taken into account and the PC version will have the exact same achievements due to 'Games For Windows Live'

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

I personally don't like the idea of weapon morphing...
I want to make my costume weapon the way I want it to look and I want that I choose what effects it will have...
I mean... let us have a choice (that Peter brags about all the time) that we decide what will our weapons look like and not game...

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

technically, you do decide what the weapon is like, by using it...

Exactly, I kinda like the new (weapon) sword mechanism, by judging from the sword (weapon) you can tell what kind of hero that person is (besides from those huge horns, etc...)

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

Ffs...
I don't choose what my weapon will look like.. game does...
What if I am ******* who want's to kill innocent people and still look like a knight in a shining armor?
Plus... all those horn things are just childish... I mean really... I said this about 1000 times now... who in right mind wants 'asshole' written all over his face...
They should make people choose if they want wings, horns, weapon effects, weapon looks, etc... if they don't then they are cutting a lot of players of their freedom of choice...

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

I just had an idea. What if the weapons adapts to where you fight. Say if you fought in a jungle, your sword becomes more machete like or your gun has camo nets on it.

You will (if i have got my facts straight someone correct me if i am wrong) be able to choose when your horns, wings etc show with the new Extreme Morph system. The game will obviously still warp you to look corrupt/pure however things such as wings and horns etc. will only show when this button is pressed and fade over time.

Another point is the gamer is about consequences. Thats the premise of the morality system. You may want to be a shining knight who butchers people when he gets a little bored but PM wants to make it a real decision. Do you sacrifice your pious and pure appearance for a few minutes of sadistic fun? Granted not the deepest of moral dilemmas but it is still a choice that you consciously make and will therefore receive the consequences of.

EDIT: With the new continent and thus new environments the weapon morphing to the environment you frequent most often is a good idea. Then again i could see how it could become difficult to think of morphs or implement them. A sword suited to city environments for example may be difficult...unless it was shorter for the more enclosed spaces...you may be onto something there =P

Well that is actually best argument given to me about morphing weapons and not just some simple 'yayz i luv adptive wpnz... yeeejjjzzz'....
Anyway...
Maybe our actions should reflect on some other way... people being scared of us and stuff...
Btw... true evil guy always look like goodies at 1st glance...
And yea... I saw video about wings... you know what... that's actually pretty smart... by 'spreading your wings' you show actually who you really are under your shiny armor... and I think that that's enough...
At the moment you show people your wings... i.e. your true self that they can see if you are an evil or good... and that's actually that matters...
It's bit shallow to be judged by your looks isn't it?

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

I agree it is shallow but its a game and its the easiest way to allow you to predict (at a glance) how people will react to you. that may in fact be the core reason right there...when you get past the initial OMFG HORNS ARE KL!!!!1111

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

True... again... but I still think that wings are enough...
If you already have one way to visually tell if someone is evil or good you don't need that every single detail about that person...
Btw... it will kill aspect of game if you want to be a deceiver... you know... promising people food, gold, land or what ever they want until you become a king while secretly feeding with blood of their children while no one is looking and then finally when you become king you middle finger them all and eat their children completely... you know... like a real politician :Đ
If you go and make those promises with sword dripping with blood of their favorite neighbor (and probably an eyeball of their dog hanging from you moth) it will seem pretty pathetic from their side if they believe you...
You might say that you should be good during that period, but come on... I want to be a douche in disguise from very beginning and let the people know that I am at the moment I stand at the top of the Albion and laugh at their faces... muahahahahaha ;D

Re: Adaptive Weapons??

I'm not so sure it is dependent on being good or evil but that it is actualy how you use you weapon to kill. I mean you don't need to just kill inocets to become evil.
