Happy Christmas Australia! In what has to be the biggest U-turn since the
BBC changed its mind about global warming, the Australian Classification Review Board today reversed
its decision about banning Aliens vs. Predator in the region by allowing the appeal and granting it a MA15+ rating.
SEGA Australia's GM, Darren Macbeth, told
Kotaku, "It is with great pleasure that we announce the success of our appeal. We are particularly proud that the game will be released in its original entirety, with no content altered or removed whatsoever. This is a big win for Australian gamers. We applaud the Classification Review Board on making a decision that clearly considers the context of the game, and is in line with the modern expectations of reasonable Australians."
Whilst Australian adults must be happy at the decision, my honest opinion is that whilst I share that joy with them, dropping it down to a MA15+ is nothing short of shocking. Just take a look at the screen below for instance. From
what I've seen, if any title deserves to be an 18+, it's this one. They better
get they bill drafted and passed, pronto!
