The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 or older.

Re: Amazon giving away 90 Xbox 360 “Heroes” systems

If any Grand Prize is won by a minor in any state where the age of majority is not 18, then it will be awarded to such minor’s parent or legal guardian who must sign and return all required documentation.

I'm not entirely sure what this means I thought at first it meant that if you're under 18 that your parents would have to claim the prize for you but now I'm not sure what it means. I don't think it means what I originally thought though

I believe it means that if it is won by someone who, for instance is 20 but the age of majority in their state is 21, they would still be a minor, so the stipulation about being 18 wouldn't apply and they would still be required to have a guardian pick up their prize as they are still technically a minor in their state.

Re: Amazon giving away 90 Xbox 360 “Heroes” systems

I was thinking that might be it but didn't realize that some states still consider you a minor after you turn 18

This info is from About.com

Alabama: 19
District of Columbia: 21
Mississippi: 21
Nebraska: 19
Wyoming: 19

age of majority
Adulthood in the eyes of the law. After reaching the age of majority, a person is permitted to vote, make a valid will, enter into binding contracts, enlist in the armed forces and purchase alcohol. Also, parents may stop making child support payments when a child reaches the age of majority. In most states the age of majority is 18, but this varies depending on the activity. For example, in some states people are allowed to vote when they reach the age of eighteen, but can't purchase alcohol until they're 21.

hmm... I had thought all Americans couldn't buy alcohol until the age of 21... that's what the ones up from New York and Michigan always tell us when they come up here to our bars... O.o

Re: Amazon giving away 90 Xbox 360 “Heroes” systems

It may be that it's not attached to Age of Majority

n 1984, Congress enacted the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, which remains in effect. This law requires that a portion of Federal highway funds be withheld from any States that do not prohibit persons under 21 years of age from purchasing or publicly possessing alcoholic beverages. The U.S. Supreme Court held in 1987 that Congress was within constitutional bounds in attaching such conditions to the receipt of Federal funds to encourage uniformity in States' drinking ages.[3] By 1988, every State had passed legislation to meet the Federal funding requirements

Another note on the Heroes HD-DVD there is going to be a bundle with the Heroes HD-DVD and The Xbox HD-DVD player next week. That will be in addition to the five free HD-DVDs
