An opinion...
This Fable series certainly has the potential to be impressive, if not for a few things.
One save slot? I can't name my various saves, or simultaneously start up several characters for the sake of convenience? And I have to quit before I can load a game again? This awful setup should be a thing of the past.
No character creation? Again, this disappointment should be a thing of the past. When you change makeup or hairstyles on a clone, it's still a clone. The makeup and hairstyles look pretty bad, also.
Strength: If I choose to build on my strength, maybe I don't want to resemble a steroid addict. There's something called 'muscle tone' (Bruce Lee, Demi Moore in their prime, etc). My female character looks like a few powerlifters rolled into one. It's not very flattering.
The map screen, if that's what we're supposed to call it, is useless. The map's tiny, and my marker is dwarfed by surrounding points of interest. Is it supposed to be better some day, or is this as good as it's going to get?
On engagements: I seriously doubt that a few pickup lines and muscle flexing is enough to make someone want to be your spouse. Honestly.
Spells: I didn't feel that my spells had any potential to help me defeat enemies. How about custom spells? Renaming spells?
The dog: sure, having a pet is a nice idea. But don't force it on us. Make pet purchasing an option. Oh, look - I just helped Fable appear to be a more 'open' world. And give that stupid dog some AI. I'm tired of waiting for him "unstick" himself, and he does NOTHING in battle. And here's a new concept: the very discovery of treasure is the thrill of the game. Not having my nearly useless dog find it for me.
On being evil: do we have to sprout horns, and become so disgusting in appearance? I mean, I can't be the only evil person in my world. I'd like to see some variations in NPC's, regarding a good & evil nature. At least you'd feel like you're playing in a more "open" world.
On not being able to jump: When you're nailed down to trails, limited wilderness, and jumping only when prompted, it doesn't offer much freedom. Alot of games out there have this new invention called "jumping" and it can save you from falling into land-based glitches.
Exploration: There's not much to check out off the beaten path. And why should I have an invisible barrier when I try to swim out far from shore? Am I flogging a dead horse here?
Where's the armor? Guns can make armor obselete, but we're also vulnerable to melee weapons. I'd like to be better protected in some form of mail, than in my noble clothing, which doesn't look very noble. If not for anything else, it's for looks. I didn't 'feel' particularly heroic in my pirate wannabe uniform.
If I'm forced to don clothing, make the selection large. Is that too much to ask? I feel like an idiot in my limited clothing selections.
How about a huge sword? It's another one of those things that make you feel more heroic, and not look like a swashbuckler.
I realize that this post won't be well received in a Fable forum. But who else is going to understand my pain?
