I know of 2 "unconventional" ways to get get lots of gold.
1) Go to oakvale and buy the house (the one that was your parents home in the beginning of the game). Upgrade the house once so that it will have 2 trophy mounts. Kick down the door. Hotkey your two most expensive trophies. Put your trophies on the mounts. Sell the house. Go back inside and remove your trophies. Buy the house. Repeat.
Whats happening here is that your trophies have a value to them. You can see what they are worth by looking at their value in your trophy menu.
When you buy a house, and mount the trophies, when house value increases by the amount the trophies are worth. So, when you sell the house, you gain the amount of money the trophies are worth. Because the door is knocked down, you can go inside and take your trophies, and rebuy the house at its normal price.
Method 2)
This has proved to be a good way to get cash, too. Its rather simple, actually. Infact, its almost TOO easy.
First of all, you need the steal expression.
Then, go to a tavern and buy lots and lots of beers. perhaps 50 will do.
go to a shop of your preferance ( i like to go to the weapon shop in snowspire, there are 5 augmentaions always out on display, and cn be stolen)
Make sure you have a favorable alignment, so that people wont run from you. Tell the shop owner to follow you. (if your scary and evil, he wont follow you)
Make the shop owner follow you out of the shop, and a good distance away from the shop. Have your beers hotkeyed. Tell the shop owner to 'wait'. When the follow icon above his head goes away, give him about 3-5 beers (the more you give him the longer he stays drunk). He will be too drunk to do anything, and will just wonder around in circles saying stupid things.
Run back to his shop, and steal whatever you like (just watch the door incase other people come in... when you see someone approach, just let go of the steal button)
Once you stole what you want, go to sleep until the next daytime. Go back to the shop you stole from, and the shop owner will be back to normal (note, you cant trade with a drunken shop owner). sell the stuff you stole to him, then just get him drunk all over again. Repeat as much as you like.
