Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

I picked Fable 2 up yesterday. IMolyneux made out the childhood would be lengthy.... It took me five minutes to beat, and then there is the humungous gap, i'm not happy, but otherwise Fable II has been good so far.

I wouldn't mind some teen years, maybe. But annoyed. No.:)

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

I'm pretty happy with it, in fact, I thought I played too long as a child. There are only so many bugs to kill and chickens to kick.

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

i hate the childplay at the beginning >_> i jus want to get it over with so i can start earn money and be a corrupted evil morhped fatass :>

That section was a really weak opening and yeah it was over in a matter of minutes. Got told it would last about an hour (although im glad it didnt) and i tried to do as much as i could and finished it really quickly. Could have done so much more with the opening but due to how weak it was and how little there was to do im glad it ended fast. They could have set the story up a little better with more explanation and less rushing things though. I also had 2 glitches in the childhood part, the first was collecting the Warrants. When i was meant to get the choice to give them to the guard or the other guy the other guy started talking but then ran off mid sentence so i had no choice but to do the good deed. The other was with the last little quest to give the love letter to the girl my sister glitched and didnt follow me. Only let me walk and not run and wouldnt let me speak to him or interact. I had to run back and find my sister and walk into her until she started following me again, then i could finally continue.

I think that, in truth, it's not very annoying. I mean, you could certainly say being able to live during you teen years would be great, but I that misses the point of the story. For the story really kicks off when you're an adult.

That's all I have :ninja:

Yeah I thought it was pretty annoying. I was looking forward to a 1 hour long teen/childhood. I personally really enjoy the child stages in games although I know alot of people don't and I can see why some would find it a chore.

In my opinion the child stage from Fable 1 was much better with the guild training and progressively getting older...as opposed to 10 min...BAM your an adult go explore the world.

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

I don't mind, considering right after you become an adult, you have absolutely no experience and your character is short.

So, it's as if he/she is growing.

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

Was a massive dissapointment. It was way too short.

With the lack of proper training in the games controls (unlike fable 1) I am left now in adulthood not having a full grasp on the game struggling to use spells etc. Whilst fable 1 had an excellent long training period.

I think we can thank those people who complained about the 1st game been easy to thank for this, a review I read about fable 2 was even praising the short training childhood start. The problem is not everyone is an advanced gamer and the game needs to make itself easy to play.

I am very unhappy in how all the controls are changed from fable 1, PM should really have kept as many as the buttons the same as possible. All the more reason to have a proper childhood training part of the game.

Childhood sucks in this game, it's boring and the kids look retarded.

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

I think most of you have not seen the Childhood quests

Spoiler(s)
Once you beat Lucien you can buy Garths Tower, sleep in his bed and a childhood quest will start. You are you as a kid in a dream and you got magic and weapons and all that good stuff.
Other than those two, I haven't seen more.

My friend on live did that, and I visited his world. It was totally fantastic. I was dutifully impressed.;)

Hmmm. I'm the only one who really liked it? The snow and all made it feel really Dickens-like. You know, from Oliver Twist and whatnot. It was really grim and harsh, especially with that freak who wants to have sex with your big sister in exchange for food.

And then the fairy tale come true and they get to witness magic, but with that oh-so tragic twist at the end, just when you think things are gonna be smooth sailing.

I really liked it. :)

Nope, I loved it as well. Any longer and it would have been boring.:)

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

Yet another reason why I'm happy I kept clear of all info up until I got my sticky mitts on a copy of Fable 2 this afternoon - I liked the childhood bit. As Tsuyu said, it was very Dickensian and I loved the whole atmosphere of living in the crappy end of town with the crowded streets, cold air, ne'er do wells hanging around every corner and the bleakness of their lives before getting what they thought would be a wish come true, only for it to turn out differently...

I preferred this to Fable 1's childhood which was far too idyllic for my liking...

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

Angel, I agree, this Fable game is more for the mature minded. It's not like TLC. Although I still love TLC for what it is.:)
I love the snow, and the little fire and everything.

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

Anyone know where to find that paedophile from the childhood? I know he gives you the assassin job, but I haven't seen him since. I want to find him, marry him, ahve kids, and see what happens lol

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

Tsuyu well yes. funnily enough I did like the surroundings and such, snow, the elder sister, just it was too short with a severe lack of training.

Re: Anyone else annoyed with the humungous gap in between childhood and adult hood

I was really disappointed with the story as a whole. I really hope that they release this for pc with an adequate toolset, so I can make a fulfilling childhood with a little depth and choices...
