Anyone play Castlevania?

Moreso Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, Circle of the Moon, Portrait of Ruin, or Order of Ecclesia.

I love these games and was wondering if there were anyone else out there who enjoyed them. Maybe start up a nice conversation about them.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

I've been a Castlevania fan for quite a while. I have Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. Order of Ecclesia's the only one I haven't beaten. I also want to get Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, but I've got my sights set on Lords of Shadow. I'll be getting it after i get a few other 360 games I'm waiting for.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow have, arguably, the best storyline of them.

I LOVE Shanoa. She's awesome. Bleh on storyline in that game but the gameplay was very refreshing!

Which are some of your favorites? Did you like the two character aspect of Portait of Ruin, and isn't Circle of the Moon REALLY hard...

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Love Castlevania.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Alucard used to be my favorite... but now he's become poser fanboy #1... *sigh* A lot of people ahve played Castlevania: Symphony of the night on their 360, years after it was released and are just now getting into Castlevania. Then they release Harmony of Despair, and on there people namely use Alucard so... my love for him is a bit less now. Personally I love Shanoa, but Soma is up there too!

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

I did like having two characters in Portrait of Ruin, but I pretty much just used Johnathan the whole time. I only used Charlotte for her secondary attack. I loved that you could use one character's secondary attack while playing as the other one.

Circle of the Moon is probably the hardest one I've played, but it's not extremely hard. It's my second favorite after Portrait of Ruin. Do you have Circle of the Moon?

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

I have all those I mentioned in my opening post heh. I tend to be Charlotte in a lot of boss fight and let Jonathan do his thang, cuz he'll attack away while you pelt the enemy with spells. Certain bosses, like the sisters or Death/Dracula and the final Dracula fight I need to be Jonathan cuz he's so badass. I generally use Jonathan though, minus certain enemies and bosses that I use Charlotte for. (mmm elemental weaknesses)

Circle of the moon is hard because its controls are sloppy and it's much closer to oldschool NES Castlevania than the others.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Howler, do you know about the DSS card glitch in Circle of the Moon?

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Yup, I always abuse it... ever since I found it out I couldn't help but abuse it lmao. Though the only mode worth abusing it in is Vampire Killer, after that fighter doesn't get any, shooter uses subweapons, and thief is weak no matter what you do. Oh and Magician has them all anyway lol!

Someone made an animated Castlevania thing? Neat I'll have to check it out.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Oh yea, I forgot about all those different modes.

Are you going to be getting Lords of Shadow? I've been looking forward to it for so long.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

If I have the money I really want it... looks like Devil May Cry style action... mmmm.... onlyin Castlevania.... Basically they're making what Lament of Innocence should have been. (interesting note about that game, it's where the whole Belmont vs Dracula thing began)

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

I'm not going to get it right when it comes out, but maybe if I get enough money around Christmas time, I'll buy it. I would just try to get it for Christmas, but I don't usually get that many games for Christmas, and I'm probably already getting Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. And before that, I still have to get Fable 3 and The Force Unleashed 2. I might just try to get it for my birthday in January though, but I also want to get Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2...too many games.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

I can see that! heh

I still need Mass Effect 2... I still need to finish making my character for Mass Effect 2 on Mass Effect 1... ahh continuity games are great.

Usually I have a big list of games I wanna get but... not really possible for me right now so I get to wait lol.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

 I do! Only because you got me into it! though truth be told I wish I would've gotten myself into it a while ago! :D

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Yea... you should've. But, since I own all the rpg-style ones you've plenty of Castlevania to play before you run out hehe.

On that note, I'd like to say I have a special place in my heart for Gorgoth, as the first time I fought him I died a record number of 28 times in that game.

Still won't compare to trying to beat every boss in OoE without taking a single hit (yay death ring!)

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Just out of curiosity, what was the first Castlevania game you played?

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Symphony, best game I ever played as well. "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! but enough talk, have at you!" (I can recite that entire cinematic without google)

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Ah that intro scene... Such bad dialogue but still so epic. I can almost recite all the dialogues, except for shaft and the beginning part of Dracula talking to Alucard, great scene imo. It probably would have felt more epic in japanese, their games always do heh.

Re: Anyone play Castlevania?

Castvania Lords of shadow will be my first castlvania apart from a few minor encountors with the series the main reasons for this is i havnt been able to get my grubby little hands on a copy of a game or it was on a console i didnt own. im really looking forward to playing this latest instalation to the series gotta say love pat stuart and robert carlyle as actors.
