Hi all,
An SSL Certificate is basically the little security padlock which appears in your browser's address bar for websites which offer account registrations and stuff. It's considered a must nowadays for websites to show that they're going above and beyond to keep members' communications with a website totally secure, but of course it's an additional expense. There are also additional SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) benefits that mean that Google and Bing and whomever else may give you a little additional visibility in search results, as a website is considered more 'safe'. Here's how we should look in your address bar right now:
And here's how devilmaycry.org would look in your address bar:
SSL certificates are paid for on a yearly basis, and my host (TotalChoice Hosting) offers them for$25 per year - significantly less than I've found anywhere else. For anyone interested, the SSL service my host uses is called 'EssentialSSL Certificate' and is offered via the company Comodo whom also develop a free firewall that I used to use several years ago. Not sponsored, just throwing it out there.
Any questions, feel free to ask. If anyone feels up to donating towards the SSL Certificate, you can do so via the donation option on the forum homepage, or gifting it directly to me through my PayPal. Apologies for the e-begging, and thank you for considering.
