Baldur's Gate II.
Some of the most rememberable and lovable characters in a game.
One of the best storylines in a Roleplaying Game to date.
Good and solid Dungeons & Dragons gameplay.

Shining Force
1. Because RPGs rule and Shining Force was by far the best RPG at that time - and is still contender for best RPG ever in my opinion.
2. Coz there are lots and lots of fricken' wizards running all over the place raising all kinds of Hell.
3. The end boss is a three-headed dragon. And it's fricken' ginormous and has a nasty temper. And it has THREE heads. Awesomeness.
4. See reasons 1, 2 and 3. Repeat.

Baldur's Gate isn't very impressive, although it might be fun to play the original DnD PC adventure, a quick read on Wikipedia to grab the story(which is sorta important as Baldur's Gate II directly continues on it).
Baldur's Gate II though...
It might take a time to get into it because it starts out sorta slow and with the games today it might not feel too impressive. But once you are out of the tutorial stage, get to know the world, get to know your party member and the story starts to pick up pace...

Manhole - I've always loved that game and even though nowadays it probably looks terrible compared to modern games, it was something never seen before in gaming...a proper almost free-roaming game based on land and under the sea...

-Great gameplay, legendary guns
-Dark and Light powers
-Ultimate exploration
-It was truly next gen in an old console
-Great story and characters
-I felt like a hero
-So...when is Jak 4? I would trade it for any game, move over GTA and Mass Effect, if Jak and Daxter are back in town...there's no stopping the mayhem they'll wreak.
