You can work with some bandits in a quest titled Red Harvest, I believe.

Yea, quiete in the begining you need to help the bandits kill giles at his farm when he is being protected by guards. But you will be tested by the bandits also in that quest as you will receive the key of giles his cellar, but its a fake one, so when you try to get away with the loot ( in the cellar) you will be stopped by the bandits and they tell you that they didnt trusted you totally so gave you a fake key. And you failed the test.
So you could try not going into the cellar and following the orders of the bandits without thinking about yourself. Maybe you can be kind of friends with them, but i dont know what happens than. But dunno if you can be the bandit king =p
