For the fifth year running, Penny-Arcade is organizing the annual Child's Play Fundraiser event. The charity raises money and donates much needed toys and supplies to hospitals all over the world.

In addition the annual Child's Play's Fundraiser Dinner Auction has been announced, it's taking place on Tuesday 11th December 2007 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Washington. We (that's Lionhead Studios) are also donating some pretty cool stuff for the auction, you will be able to bid for these during the Dinner Auction, and all the money made will go to the Child's Play's charity. The list is as follows:
  • Have a Fable 2 Shopkeeper named after you! (1)
  • Have a Fable 2 Farmer named after you! (1)
  • Have an important Fable 2 Villager named after you! (1)
  • Have a Fable 2 Monk named after you! (1)
  • Have a Fable 2 Quest character named after you! (1)
  • Signed underwear by Peter Molyneux! (1)

Re: Be in Fable 2!

thats pretty cool, and the auctining item thingys are cool too

Re: Be in Fable 2!

I think it would be cool if they could map your physical features into a character in fable 2 so not only would it have your name but it would look like you. Now THAT, is something i'd spend money on. :P

Re: Be in Fable 2!

Soo... It's only in America?:(

Re: Be in Fable 2!

I thought that was interesting as well. :ninja:

Re: Be in Fable 2!

forget naming a monk after me, i reckon it'd be cool to start a 'religion' about yourself. thats probably an evil typey thing 2 du huh?

Kinky. Wonder if they are used.

Re: Be in Fable 2!

Considering my current emotional state, this literally brought tears to my eyes.

I spent so much time at hospitals... Children's hospitals, it was ****ed up. So, we buy the stuff from the Amazon and the hospitals get it? Awesome. I need to share this with my family.

We've been to way too many of these, though. CNMC DC, Philly's Children's Hospital, the one in Boston, we briefly were at Johns Hopkins for one thing that turned out wasn't something that could help us. The only hospitals that we went to that weren't here were Georgetown University Hospital (probably because it's not really a children's hospital) and St. Jude. And a couple other little ones we just went to for a couple tests.

But yeah, seriously-- donate. I know how much the kids like stuff like this when they're waiting for surgery and all; and how dedicated the child life specialists are, even when the other hospital staff are jackasses. My sister's hospital stays were much less upleasant because of them.

Thanks for posting this, Sephiroxas.

And yeah, I know I ignored the Fabley part of this and just rambled about family ****. Sorry. But seriously, donate.

Re: Be in Fable 2!

That sounds awesome (and Child's Play, what with all the donations and such, is awesome anyway. Talk about going against gamer stereotypes.). Too bad there's no way I'd be in Washington, but ehhhhh...Still a great thing to donate to.

Re: Be in Fable 2!

Why would you need to be in DC? There were all those hospitals listed, and you could donate to any of them online.

Not sure what stereotypes you refer to.

It's Washington State ;)

Re: Be in Fable 2!

Oh. Sorry, I hear "Washington" and I assume DC, even if it is always called DC. Well, why would you need to be there?

Oh, wait, I just reread the first post. The fundraiser dinner is there. I see.

I really like this method of fundraising, though. Most of what Lionhead is doing costs nothing but some time and memory space; and people would pay bunches of money. Or at least, knowing my fellow gamers, I think they would.

Re: Be in Fable 2!

I meant the stereotype that we're (the industry and fans in general) all homicidal maniacs and don't care about anything that certain, uh, people seem to have. Yes, we're so evil, we give donations! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Re: Be in Fable 2!

No, no, no-- that's the Thompsontype. No sane and rational people believe that. It's only a little tiny segment, and hence not a stereotype, which is believed by many.

Re: Be in Fable 2!

And people say video games do nothing for society! It's good to see that they're donating it to a good cause, and if it involves Fable, it makes it that much better!
